I was wondering this because I would like to free up the restriction in my exhaust system and I want to keep the system uniform and have the correct piping diameter. If you go with a 3 inch test pipe when the rest of the system is 2.5 then it can screw up the velocity of the exhaust gases. My future setup is going to use the works stealth muffler and and it would be nice to get rid of the cat in the process. I figure that at these power levels, throw in an ecutek tune and I seriously doubt that you'll be able to see any difference in power when compared to a 3 in system, and it'll be quiet. Now granted as power levels are raised to beyond say 350 whp then it will probably not make as much as a 3 inch system, but I am not going beyond that so for me this would be perfect. Vendors, feel free to chime in. Thanks.

 

I actually wanted the same thing for the same reason and also because such expansions and contractions will add droning and farts after being off the gas.

But your best bet would probably just take it to some custom muffler shop and have them build you one. It would also be cheaper.

I don't think anyone is going to mass produce a 2.5 test pipe.

Maybe call some vendors and ask if they can make one custom?

If all else fails, call Road Race Engineering, and i'll talk to them to see if they can custom make one for you.

Your best bets are Buschur or Ultimate Racing.

Ultimate did a 2.5 for the VIII and IX, I am unsure if they would do one for the X, but it is worth asking. You could PM Darryl on here to find out.

Buschur Racing is another great place to call. David has done some custom stuff in the past, and would give you good advice on how to proceed. If something in the exhaust path won't make power, he refuses to sell it.
