3 Weeks with Buschur Exhaust (review)

Ok... So i need to write a new review after having my Buschur exhaust....keep in mind this is my own feelings and please don't flame me for what I am about to say.

This exhaust sounds great.... yup it sure does...sounds awesome. Looks great from the rear of the car too...the tips are the perfect size. Now with the negative comments.

Having the exhaust for a few weeks has only brought me more and more anger. I live in a neighborhood with 3 speedbumps. I have been driving lowered cars for 6 years and this evo isn't even lowered... and still i get an evil scraping sound. This scraping is coming from the little muffler or resonator on the Buschur exhaust. The problem is that this muffler is 3.5-4in off the ground (on stock suspension). Any speed bump that can fit between your front and rear wheels you run the danger of scraping this exhaust muffler over.

I think this is a very poor design and that this muffler should be tucked higher up or maybe they should have designed it so that the muffler was even with the rear wheels so people wouldn't encounter this problem.

If you have a couple people in your back seat, or some luggage....better be careful cause you will scrape. I am contemplating not lowering the Evo now because of this issue... I live in a neighborhood with 3 speed bumps and everyday I dread going over them, some days i scrape because of extra weight, some days I am lighter and I don't.... its ridiculous.

This is just a word of caution for everyone. Be careful with this exhaust if you live anywhere around speed bumps...

How big are your speed bumps? It doesn't look like in any of the pictuers that the muffler hangs any lower than the rest of the under carriage...and I haven't heard of anyone else having this problem on stock height so maybe you just are unfortunate enough to live in an area with EPIC speed bumps...

I will take pictures tonight. The exhaust is installed correctly....

The speed bumps are your standard speedbumps, I'll shoot a picture of the one down my street when I am taking a picture of the clearance of the exhaust...

The only speed bumps that effect it are the ones that can easily fit between the front tires and the rear tires, it seems the muffler is just in an unfortunate place.

If you look at the stock exhaust it has a very similar resonator in the strait section... BUT what Mitsu did to keep it from banging on every speed bump is they made it triangular so there is a flat side instead of a round side facing towards the ground to help with this clearance issue.

I'm surprised I am the only one mentioning this problem. But as i said the problem really only comes into play if you have something heavy in the trunk or a couple passengers.

Pics coming tonight if i can find some AA batteries.

Take pictures of your car going over the speed bump. We need to see these monsters.

LOL i swear they aren't monsters. In fact they are the kind if you go fast over you don't even notice they are there... people in my neighborhood rarely brake for these things... But now going fast isn't an option cause then i would surely scrape the exhaust over it lol

So they are the elongated speed humps then? not the normal yellow speed bumps. Either way something doesn't sound right otherwise I'm sure more people would have mentioned the buschur scraping.

This is the second thread complaining about the exhaust before talking to the vendor.

There are the two hangers in the back for each pipe then the one in the middle after the muffler to hang the main pipe before the split.

If this is true then this is bad. I have some serious speed bumps in my neighborhood in the city. I shall try them tonight to see.

Ill let you guys know as soon as I got the info.

You guys and your sweeping generalizations...

To the OP, Take some pics of your exhaust..Send them to Buschur...Have him verify that installation is correct.
BTW, Did you contact them before starting this thread to tell them what your experiencing. Or, Did you start a thread complaining without giving the vendor any chance to make the situation right before spewing off about it?

I am not sure what you're talking about exactly. In my experience, many of the Japanese exhausts aren't full 3" systems (even though they're advertised as such) and neck down in various places.

Perhaps some of you could read Eric Hsu's blog. He has certain viewpoints on JDM

Sorry to hear about the OP's experience. I am a fan of the Buschur design, as it eliminates the extra weight of 2 mufflers.

Sorry didn't see your post in the sea of garbage that is in this thread...

The exhaust IS installed correctly.

Why should I have to contact a vendor simply to state my opinion on a product. Its not a defected product just think they overlooked this fact.... I'll go take pictures now....

Give me a minute...

Installed correctly... the muffler is about 1 inch away from the drive shaft, it can't go any higher.

Now imagine if there is a passenger or 2 in the back seat.... imagine the exhaust an inch closer to the ground.

These pictures were taken with 1/4 tank of gas, and nothing in the backseat or trunk.
