you'll find that even in manual .. you need anticipation to shift from 1st to 2nd .. worse if you mod ..
It's normal that instead of shifting the car hits the rev limiter while in auto mode?

Hrm...I'll try it after I put the drop-in HKS filter and let you guys know if I have that problem since I don't seem to have this problem when it is rowing through the gears one way (i.e. shifting up from a standstill), but some others do.

i have a K&N filter and mine is fine.
If you slow down slowly it stays in a high gear to long saving gas, then floor it sometimes it gets caught out it's suddenly has to snap down three gears then go up one or two and the gear selector cant be on two odd or two even gears at once. Thats my thoughts anyway.

it has only happened from a stand still from 1st to 2nd gear also

karlr: is your MR stock? Even if you have changed the air filter, let us know.

BTW, the rev limiter is designed to prevent damage to your engine. It cuts the fuel long before the engine revs high enough to cause damage.

100% bone stock. car is only 3 weeks old 1100 miles on it. it did it once when a week old and a second time yesterday. and I have only used sport mode 2 times and both times it did it im afraid to try a 3rd time. I talked to the dealer they are clueless and didnt even know the car had a rev limiter lol...

OK, thanks for the info.

Mine did it again this weekend, standard situation - was cruising in 2nd and then floored it. Car revved over 7.5k before rev limiter cut in, and car didn't shift for what I would call a significant time. I still only have the WORKS drop in air filter.

I would say there is a clear problem/bug if someone with a stock vehicle (above) is having this problem.

I'm very curious what happened re: hitting the rev limiter in auto mode.

I don't know if "learning" is the correct term for this, but after flashing, I WILL hit rev limited in 1st and 2nd. That only happens once or twice and then it goes away. The TCU I guess figures out that it has to shift slightly earlier. In fact, if I have a new rom that I like and will use for Daily Driving, I make it a point to do a WOT in 1st and 2nd just so that it CAN hit the rev limiter and figure out that it needs to shift a little earlier. :-P
