New setup

Hi all!

Names David, im currently in Iraq, so I don't have the resources to do alot of searching (this page took 18 minutes to load). I am going to be buying the basics for my OB 08 GSR when I get back to Hawaii. Here's my list so far.

T1R TBE (had T1R on my S2000 and I loved it)
Intake-undecided
Intercooler Piping-undecided

I am going for the most horsepower possible with everything listed.

Suggestions and reasons why would be greatly appreciated.

GO WOOOO!!!

The exhaust you chose is a good one, and if you want to do an IC pipe upgrade, do the upper pipe but leave the lower pipe alone; upgrading the lower pipe doesn't seem to net any power gains in all the dyno tests, so I'd say don't waste your money on that. Get a drop in filter or a cold air intake and get the car tuned with a reflash. The reflash is by far the best mod you can do for your X hands down. A completely stock X will make ~60 whp on most dynos (or 100 on TTPs ) and it makes even more with bolt ons. It will also make the car run much better because it will get rid of the hesitation issue that the X has in stock form by leaning out the overy rich air/fuel ratios.

Mail-in tunes are ~$500 + shipping usually, but the prices have been coming down lately and many companies are offering discounts during the holidays. You're on the right track with the parts you've listed; I think you should feel some really decent gains (especially with a tune.) As far as vendors/manufacturers for what your looking for, I'd say go with Nisei for the UICP and pick a drop-in filter from WORKS. And to give you options, Nisei also sells an Intake/LICP combo that relocates and replumbs the diverter valve which is nice as well.

If I can find some pictures for you I'll post them up.

Sweet! I am leaning towards an open element filter. I just prefer the look of them over the stock intake.

I also noticed that the Nisei intake doesn't replace the entire intake pipe, just the first elbow by the filter itself. Would I see beter gains replacing it with an intake that replaces the whole pipe?

i would go for be ,sure and easy . Get everything from AMS.
Dont have to break a bank, High quality and makes power for sure. You will not regret it.
Also how cool is that if everything/power/ from the same company?
They design they parts to work together, so they will perform most likely the best together. Also if the MAil in flash is an option , there you go again... the best deal for you and for them also, since they know exactly the parts and they can provide you the closest flash for you car.

Good luck there and come home safely.

Looks like I am going to be going with the AMS UICP and intake setup, T1R TBE, and the Ecutek mail in flash. The ETS intercooler combo is super cheap. I think around 680 on their site. I just don't think I need the LICP and I don't want to pay for parts that won't net more than 5hp.

How does the mail in flash work, do I send in my ECU with list of mods and get it back ready to go?
