Cobb Turbo Inlet Hose Gap Problem

I just picked up a Cobb Turbo Inlet hose for a custom intake setup. I guess the Cobb Turbo Inlet hose was meant to be used for OEM intake box setup. Anyhow the MAP tube I am using is the same dimensions as the OEM one just a bit longer, however it does not have the lip that the OEM MAP tube has. Theres a pic below to see what i"m working with here. Theres a bit of a gap. I know most turbo pipes and clamps usually fit snug on before you even clamp it down. Should I be worried bout a leak or do you think clamping it down should be fine? The gap is facing towards the firewall so its not as bad. I'm more worried about it not sealing tight? I was thinking also possibly using a high heat tape to build up a lip on the edge of the pipe (like the OEM) so that it seals better. Any recommendations or insights would be most helpful. Thanks in advance.

That looks like a big gap to me - personally I would not use it. I doubt you could get that snug enough to be certain it wouldn't leak.

I agree. That gap is huge. You could use tape, but will it start to disintegrate and get sucked into the engine? I can't think of any safe way to ensure it doesn't leak.

I just talked to COBB and they told me to use something called MACH metal tape. to build up the lip. I don't think i'd disintergrate and get sucked in especially since the stuff can stand up to 350 degrees and its also going to be clamped down on. Plus I don't think the MAP tube will get very hot especially since its on the intake side.

do what they say and make sure you use t-bolt clamps to crank down as tight as possible....you will be fine

See if you can find a smaller diameter coupler that will fit tight over the MAF (NOT MAP) housing, if it fits tight there, the inlet pipe should fit snug around it and your good to go.

Get your maf bead rolled on the edges.

I'm not seeing how that's going to seal well, I think it will create a boost leak. If you decide to use it, at least run a bead at the end of the MAF pipe and use two clamps.
