Im in the market for a set of cams and not sure what ones i want.

If you guys/gals have any input or Pros and cons of either brand please chime in

the cams are cosworth intake and exhaust 266 duration intake lift is 10.8 mm
exhaust lift 10.4

the kelford are intake 270 duration 11.3mm lift exhaust 262 duration 10.35mm lift

The Kelford 270 looks badass, but I don't have any personal experience. I know this requires an additional valvetrain upgrade ($250), which is probably a good thing. Cosworth and the milder Kelfords are limited by the fact that they are designed to work with the stock valve springs, etc. That said, Cosworth is more 'proven' IMO, and already has some great numbers posted from several sources.

Another issue is that this camset is designed with upgraded turbos in mind. Problem is, if you go that route, you'll need an upgraded fuel pump too, which isn't readily available for the X yet. stock fuel pump is will limit you around 400-425hp. a turbo and these cams should put you well over that mark with supporting mods.

Actually, we've had our Walbro 255 Install Kit available for the Evo X for a few months now.

Thanks for the heads up. What HP level will the 255 support?

related question on the topic of cams: would running them with an upgraded turbo on pump gas show the same gain if you're already pushing the limits of 93 oct, or would race gas be needed to get the most out of them?

I am interested to see what these can do in relation to the milder 266 Cosworth cams. Hopefully, TurboTrix will install these soon and post results.

I was told by a vendor here that the 214-B is made for large frame turbos and will not be a benefit on a small frame turbo like the FP Red (or stock). I would still be interested in seeing some numbers on these, but if this is true, I guess the Cosworths may be our best option.

I would also be hesitant to use the larger overlap and lift Kelfords with a stock frame turbo like the FP Red. All these stock frame turbos with bigger wheels are mainly limited by one thing, the small turbine housing. Putting in a bigger turbine wheel helps, but the small turbine housing will still create a lot of backpressure.

Lots of backpressure and high duration cams are a no-no because you'll get reversion. So that leaves two options that I can think of: wait for the Garrett bolt-on turbos, or buy a full turbo kit that uses a bigger turbo (requiring a new exhaust manifold).

Thanks for the info. I'm pretty set on using the FP Red, so the large overlap is concerning. Are you saying that this wouldn't be an issue on something with equal i/e specs?
