A pipe that is 2.87 inch with a wall thickness of 0.083 inches comes in at

Stainless 2.47956552 lbs/ft

Std Steel 2.47494048 lbs/ft

difference of 0.00462504 lbs/ft

this is NOT the dims of the exhaust it is just all the sizing I could find published by ANSI/ASME. As you can see the weight difference is marginal at best.

We have run these type of exhausts in utah since 03 and have yet to see one rust through. Here they salt the road HEAVILY and is some of the toughest conditions on metals.

I would not be worrried to put this on my own car but I can see wanting a full stainless exhaust just for the beauty and piece of mind. But for the price I don't think this exhaust can be beat.

well, i live in MD where winters are pretty harsh, but from what is said above me, no rusting. would be pretty lame if that were the case, but i think i'll take a chance...

I noticed a lot of negative remarks about the piping material. Let me clarify this. The piping is coated. It's not bare steel. In fact, and I'm not positive about this, but it may even be coated stainless. Just not polished obviously. So this won't rust like you think it will. It just won't look pretty under your car where you and your mechanic look at it once or twice a year. I'll also add that I sprung for the 30th anniversary Hi power in my VIII. (the anniversary was the full stainless version of the hi-power.) It was a waste of $100 more. I should have just bought the regular hi-power. Same gains, just one is coated and not as pretty looking.

I design padmount SF6 switch gears for a living and I know a little bit about mild steel and galvanized steel. When mild steel goes through galvanizing, it's like spraying a protective coat that will prevent the steel from rusting for a long time. We made galvanized steel enclosures that sit in the middle of Alaska and some at the Panama Canal, and non of those rusted after 10 years of operation. Now either you plan to go off-roading with your car and bash that pipe into some jagged rocks and leave huge scratch marks, then you might get some rusting forming just on those cuts, but not everywhere else where it hasn't been scratched. Surely a full stainless steel pipe will resist rusting even when scratched, but I'm sure no snow or ice would be strong enough to place a deep scratch onto the galvanized pipe.

Here's a link to a start-up video of the HKS Hi-Power. I will be uploading a drive by video as well. It's uploading to vimeo as I post.

It's not nearly as obnoxious as previously thought. It idles actually nice and quiet. Very impressed. And fitment is right on.
Had it on in a lil over an hour. Removing the tow hitch and pushing aside the canister took the most time.

Okay here's the drive by video. You can fast forward a lil bit until the car comes back around.

That's actually not bad at all. Just don't know if I am a fan of the dual canister look...
