what the heck is this

i just bought my MR brand new last saturday. i open the hood 2 days ago to take a gander and i see this thing sitting in the corner dangling. i'm picking up my owner's manual on fri...so i have no idea what this is.

whatever it is, it seems like there's a crack in where the 2 sides merge. tech broke it during PDI and didn't mention it? i didn't notice it when i took delivery...

It covers this set of fuses, one of which I broke this past weekend. Lost my power windows/locks/mirrors, A/C, and MMCS

I was trying to tap into a power source for a stupid motorized hide-away license plate frame I was installing. While trying to take the top right bolt off, the whole housing cracked and snapped the fuse as well. I ordered a replacement fusible link from RussellM (I think that's the right part), so hopefully I'll have this fixed next week. Anyone know if there's any harm from driving around with this in the meantime?

The evo x has the battery in the trunk, so it can be that.

^^ Yeah, it was about $16 + shipping for the part. According to the Evo X service manual, it's called a fusible link.
