If you're replacing ONLY the downpipe section and keep the stock exhaust elbow coming off the turbo, the gains are truely minimal.

The bottle neck is the tiny outlet of the exhaust elbow. To make significant gains, you should go with the O2/downpipe combo. O2 housing is not really an accurate term as the exhaust elbow, what everyone calls the O2 housing, doesn't have the O2 sensor in it anymore like the previous generation Evos. But the name carried over from the previous generation.

But anyways.... search under O2/downpipe combo. I recommend the AMS cast unit.

I have a thing for AMS parts. I'm going to try to buy only AMS products as I have been very impressed with their R&D and the care they take in designing their products.

That being siad they make a sweet "Widemouth Downpipe" on their site, but like the poster above said you need to eliminate the restrictions past the DP to see and really good gains.

AMS's wide mouth dp is not just a dp. It is an o2 housing and dp in one.

Ultimate Racing, ETS, and AMS all have good downpipes. I went with the AMS Widemouth the quality is top notch.

the ETS and AMS seem to have slightly different designs, anyone have any pro/cons for either of these?

Since you just asked about a downpipe and not downpipe AND o2 housing, then you may like to know that an HKS Legamax + HKS downpipe with the restrictive stock CAT made 18whp, as soon as it is replaced by a test pipe I am hoping the total gains will be 30whp. Which is quite impressive. HKS says all downpipes they make are for off-road use only.

I can attest to the amazing fit and finish of AMS' parts. ETS and others make great parts too though, so I don't really think you can go wrong. I just have a thing for the hand-made, American-made parts.

the welds on my ams dp were average. I was expecting something really good because their testpipe was immaculate. Maybe i just got one of the fair downpipes but it is huge. If i had to do it again i would still get the ams dp but would just pray a little harder that the welds were prettier. lol

a couple of Tuners have told me to go with the Ultimate Racing long 3" downpipe. they said its a very well made product for a good price. The welds are perfect.

I have the MXP downpipe, I paid $160 from evasive motorsports and it fit fine and looks great didnt have any problems and was very cheap if you want to save more money try the Ichiba downpipe it is about $135 only. Each of these is stainless steel as well...Choices.. choices??

I also got the Ichiba test pipe it was very nice for the price ($130) and comes with three O2 bungs with plugs for two of them. The other bung is a 1/4-20 thread I believe for AFR. I just plugged it with a bolt since I have no AFR gauge ..

We have our o2/downpipe in a couple different configurations. We can build it to recirculate or dump to the atmosphere. The reason we separate the wastegate from the exhaust gasses is to reduce turbulence in the system. Both downpipes cost the same - $440.00. We also include the gasket, studs and nuts. We provide new studs for an easier installation, it's a pain to do the install with the stock rusted bolts.

Here is what you receive.

Thanks,

Michael

He isn't kidding. I can say first hand it's a very nice piece and noticed an immediate difference! The torque is crazy now!
