Mitsubishi unbelievable

Let me start by saying that I have owned several Japanese cars in the past. From my souped up Honda Prelude V-tec back in my ricer days many years ago. To Acura and Lexus. All of these cars never gave me any hiccups..

Ok now to my point. My Mitsubishi service manager calls me yesturday and tells me that my new transmission input shaft arrived. Unfortently the new shaft is also defective. Heres where you can see my story from the beginning.
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...put-shaft.html

So I went over there to take a look at that input shaft. To my amazement, the shaft wasnt machined right ,where the input shaft seal rides on. Even the original one looked better. But both were defective. What is up with that? Its hard to believe this is coming from a Japanese car. A part made in Japan.. To top things off. My main bearing seal leaking from the very beginning. Down to this. My whole tranny is in pieces right now. On a brand new car with only 3000 miles.. What an utter dissapointment..

I've followed some of your issues. It really is remarkable how unlucky you have been with this car. Have you thought of pursuing lemon law with it?

That thought has crossed my mind several times. Hopefully they will fix it right this time though..

I've been reading up on these forums since I bought my car back in Feb. In all honesty, it's a little disheartening to see different people with the SAME car having all of these various quality issues. As I sit here on my iPhone typing this, I'm reminded why I bought an EVO and wish it wasn't a Mitsu, as I'm parked here, it's crappily idling~650-750 rpm... This car doesn't have me paranoid to break something, as I know through this well informed forum of people on here, it WILL happen eventually. Murphy's Law of Mitsubishi. I've accepted it. Should I have to? Absolutely NOT!!!

I apologize to the OP for the thread jack. I hope your problems are solved so you can enjoy your car again.

If I had the issues you're having, and I was in cali (where the laws are more consumer favorable) I'd already be lemoning the vehicle.

Unforuntately that's usually a problem with buying new cars thier first year. I haven't ever seen a first year next gen car that hasn't had some sort of random strange issue that isn't fixed in the next year production model.

wow, talk about a buzz kill. you get her for 3000 miles then it sits til they can finally send you a part that is machined correctly. I hate to say it, but if it was an american car it would be up and running by now. Unfortunately we all have to put up with crap to have the cars we love.

Sorry to hear about all your bad luck. Cali has pretty specific lemon laws. Something about having the same issue three times and not being able to fix it. But, it has to be the same exact issue that has been attempted to be fixed at least 3 times.

Hope it all works out for you. Great to hear that they are covering everything under warranty. We all know how Mitsu is with warranty (even with stock cars).

From: Tx,
some says get the GSR the tranny cause it is better if you want to mod your car but i think it's the same more GSR tranny is broken i think than MR. or maybe because the gsr is pushing more power that's why it broke more trannies but some them are just stock. so gsr tranny is not bullet proff as others say.
