Dealer replacing the input shaft

Heres the scoop on my X. The dealer told me that the input shaft on the tranny needs to be replaced. Which is why I have a little oil leak from the transmission which is getting on to the clutch and flywheel. The mechanic did replace the input shaft seal last time my car was over there. But I guess since the shaft itself is defective it didnt stop the oil from leaking..
So my question is, and hopefully some of you can help me out here. Is replacing the input shaft a big complex job? I know the tranny would have to come apart. But I want to know the details on this. Thanks..

So are you going to consider going back to an aftermarket clutch since the source of the issue has been found? You know the stocker isn't going to take the a beating for very long...

I'm interested too, since I have the same problem of oil leaking from the input shaft and going on the clutch... https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...aunched-2.html

Input shaft would require trans removal, so I would say it would be probably $1000 dollar job by the time it was out, repaired, and back in.

I would not be something a rookie could handle by any means. IMHO

The main problem is not removing the gearbox (quite easy and not so different from "normal" FWD cars), but replacing the shaft itself: this requires to OPEN the gearbox...
Instead, if only the seal has to be replaced, once you have taken apart the gearbox, it's done. You don't have to touch all the rest of the trans (transfer case, etc).
