AMS Dual Exit Exhaust Released!
I was very interested to see this exhaust's release but I'm a bit turned off. Bottom line...its overpriced. It seems like all of the manufacturers are engaging in predatory pricing. I understand compensation is required for intellectual property but this is ridiculous. Catback exhaust systems north of $1,000 is beginning to be the norm. Why are exhaust systems for the VIII/IX in the 500-600 range and the systems for the X 30-40% higher, in some instances 100% higher? I don't see how it will be quiet unless the muffler is terribly restricted. There is also no resonator in the mid-pipe.

i just brought mine yesterday cant wait until it comes in i like the stock look of the exhaust and i cant lie at 1st i was hoping the exhaust didnt look so stock but cops in my area been giving people tickets for not having stock exhaust and ams also garentees me power and will last a very long time that to me is more important than overall look

The single exit exhausts for the Evo X ARE 500-600 range, just like older Evo's. The thing that is badace about this exhaust is the tunable sound, and ability to run single exit if you want to for tracking. I think this is one of the most innovative exhaust designs I've ever seen. A tunable sound and options for single or dual exit, how cool is that?!? I am sure this exhaust will be very loud if you aren't allowing much exhaust go into the muffler due to having the more restricted plate or the block-off plate.
I do agree with most exhausts that it is stranger that just because they add another exit, especially on exhausts with a single straight section. Exhausts with dual mufflers, dual midpipes, etc, I can totally understand the higher price with some. Believe it or not, it is very very hard to stay competitive in this business, many companies go out of business because cheap knock-offs made in China steal their designs and take their business (Greddy anyone?). Others, such as ARC's products, are ridiculous for the price. Take a look at pretty much all the parts for the GT-R, they are ridiculously more expensive. They have a 25k exhaust, and the minimum price for an exhaust is like 3k for those. They figure if you have this or that car that you have more money to pay for parts.

I, for one, am impressed on the uniqueness of this design. Is it my favorite for the X, no, but it certainly is pretty cool.
Without any of the "plates" the exhaust is definitely NOT quiet. It has a nice deep growl to it. The tips are the same shape as the stock tips, but they're literally double the size. Stealthy to the untrained eye.
Everything went together in flawlessly, no rubbing or hitting anything under the car.

AMS has a name for themselves. I have been extremely pleased with all the products I've gotten from them.
The price may seem a little overpriced, but you know for sure, for that price, you are receiving a quality item.

Because of the giant muffler and two side exit design. Like someone above said, a single exit is much less of an expense. It's the same with the GR STis, most of the catbacks are 30-40% higher cost than the old ones, because you're buying more piping!

Also we decided to go with a tip that mirrored the stock one as it fly's under the radar. We could offer this system with different tips but it would increase the price a bit.
