Do you honestly believe that it cost $1100 to build this thing?

$200 build cost at most
$900 goest to AMS brand name
Congrats to someone who knows nothing about business.

Let me spell it out for you...

Direct Materials
Direct Labor
Manufacturing Overhead

So do the math, you really think these cost 200 dollars to make? ever bought stainless pipe? nope you haven't. Ever had to polish something (other than your moms silverware)? Quality labor isn't cheap, quality mufflers aren't cheap. It costs money to keep the lights on and the welders welding.

They certainly aren't making 900 bucks off this, not to say they aren't making a large profit, they are, but not as high as you imagine. The profit margin of performance products for cars isn't as high as many people imagine.

How quite is it really as comparied to other quite exhausts. As quite as a HKS Legamax? Perrin? Interesting that the Edmunds article said the db was less through the muffler with the restrictor plates but subjectively louder.

I like the design as it is very unique and original. Like the tips as well. If you all remember last year, everyone was wanting a more stealth tip from aftermarket exhaust makers and AMS came through. In the pic of the blue car, they do however seem to sit very high in the rear valance.

^post up some videos of the exhaust with the plates in if you can. I'm curious how loud it is, I love this exhaust but I really need something thats as close to stock sounding as I can get for daily driving.

Some of you guys are on f'ing crack. That is a really nice exhaust for the money, and it looks great. I build exhaust parts and have a shop full of stainless and there is much more than $200 in parts and labor in that exhaust. Plus...they have to pay for the parts and R&D. If you are a cheap ***, buy some cheap sh*t and go about your business. I would have purchased this without a doubt had it been available at the time I bought my GReddy 14 months ago.

+1

Finally someone who makes exhausts can attest to the manufacturing costs! To say that it was $200 to R&D and make is absolutely rediculous.

If I have learned anything from modifying vehicles in the past it is get fewer, better quality parts for a set budget and that is exactly what I am going to do by going with AMS.

Did anyone else who bought this only get 1 gasket and 2 bolts? The picture online shows 2 gaskets and 4 bolts.

Edit: I was able to get AMS on the phone and I'm missing a gasket and 2 bolts. So it arrived with damage to the tip and missing pieces. I'm pretty excited. They're shipping me the parts that were left out and were apologetic, though. Otherwise, the part looks fantastic.
