Does a down pipe make that much of a difference?

I am going to buy a cobb and a cpe cbe and quick pipe w hfc. My question is does the down pipe make that big of a difference to justify me buying it. I know for the stage 2 tune on the cobb it says you need a cbe, but I'm already dropping $1600, do I need to drop an additional $200?

I already have an ams intake.

Another question, how close to the +24% can I expect to actually see?

Search, please This has already been discussed and there are dyno results to support the findings.

Good question, although it will probably never be answered. It depends on who you ask. Some tuners have claimed very little to even zero gains with the addition of a downpipe; whereas others have claimed sizeable power increases.

A standard downpipe wont net you the same gains as a down pipe with 02 housing. But when it comes down to justifying a purchase, it all comes down to you.

Yes. You might as well anyways since most of your exhaust will be taken apart. In the scheme of things, $200 is nothing....

I wouldn't go by the percentage gains businesses claim on their sites. Do a search to see what gains are made by each mod.

This is a good question. I was originally thinking TBE, but after reading all the horror stories about installing the o2 housing, I began to think about just doing hiflow cat and CBE. Plus some guys like Buschur are saying the o2 housing doesnt need to be upgraded. If you don't do a true TBE and do just the cat and CBE, can you move to cobb AP stage 2, or do you stay with stage 1?

Yes you can download the Stage 2 Cobb tune (93 or 91 octane)) with just the high-flow cat or test pipe, and a CBE.

Remember to remove the pill as well (instruction in the Cobb Stage 2 map notes).

No you do not need a test pipe/cat for the AP stage 2 map, but it won't hurt you either. Yes it is safe to run stage 1 with any CBE.
