Intake Question

hi guys! im totally new to EVO and i have some question, hopefully you guys can be able to help me.
im planning to get an intake with the cobb stage 1, i was wondering which intake would be the best with it?
im looking for an intake that have the deep nice intake sound and some gains tho, do you guys have any idea?
so i heard that if i get away of the stock air box, i can hear the turbo spool and the BOV? is this true?
thanks
Nick

yes its true and cai or any intake isnt gonna get that much of a gain without a tune. if you want the cool sound of the BOV, then by all means go ahead

If you are gonna use the Cobb Stage 1 maps, it's probably best to get an intake that Cobb has already tested and has a map out for (AEM, AMS, and Cobb).

And as for the turbo spool and bov sound, yes you will hear it more with an open filter set up.

1) i would ask cobb what intakes are "approved" for their stage 1 tune. if you're getting tuned on a dyno (custom tune), any intake will be fine.

2) go with the big companies like aem, injen, buschur, ets, ams, ultimate racing, harman motive. ultimate racing has the cheapest at $150 (UR intake)

3) yes, you will hear more turbo spool and the stock BPV if you go with an intake. get an upper intercooler pipe as well, good gains there.

That I'm not 100% sure cuz I've never actually heard what the AEM intake sounds like. I would think it's not nearly as loud as something with just an open filter. Try searching for a video on youtube, that might give you a better idea.

i'm not sure. why don't you just get a custom tune? that way you won't have to worry about if the intake and UICP will affect the tune, because you'll be tuned for it. and you'll get more power than a generic off-the-shelf map.
