Will HFC pass emissions?

I have an UR test pipe on my car living in SC which doesn't do emissions testing. I may be moving to PA which does require it. If I put on an UR HFC, will my car pass emissions testing? And has anyone confirmed this with an annual inspection?

While I was living in PA with my old Evo IX, I had a Mil-Spec 100 cell cat. I went to the dealership to get inspections annually. They do OBD-II testing, so as long as there's no CEL (and I'm guessing they might do a visual check), you should pass.

exactly why I got a resonated test pipe..... Inspection is only visual and obdII..... those guys working the inspection station aren't gonna take a long enough look to realize my Resonator isn't a Cat

Its true, the local mom and pop shop I used would never look under the car, (my old wrx was catless). A couple times the mechanics made comments on how bad the exhaust smell was, then the car would pass OBD-II.

So back to the OP's original question.

Will a HFC pass emissions?

Though this is true, I question if a 100 count cat would pass the "sniffer" test.

My high-flow cat is a 300 count, and I haven't read of any 300 count cats failing the "sniffer" test.

The majority of PA uses OBD-II in lieu of the sniffer test (it's usually one or the other), so the OP should be fine.

So all they do is hook up the OBD-II sensor and that's it? I was told that some states turn your car on and hold something in the exhaust stream. "Sniff" test as you guys call it.

I have an Ultimate Racing test pipe and no CEL, ever. But if you look under the car, you can obviously tell there's no cat on the car. I guess I could pick up a HFC from Ultimate Racing. I wouldn't want to fail the inspection. Plus a HFC is better than the stock cat anyday.

This all depends on your state. If you lived in Cali no it would not pass. They state that the factory cat can not be replace with any other cat then the original. Texas on the other hand is like some of the other guys have posted. No CEL and a quick visual (if that) and your good to go.

You should almost definitely be fine with a HFC. I live in PA and I ran my catless WRX for 4 yrs and never once had a problem. My X is catless also and I have not had any problems. As long as there is no CEL you are good to go. Either way if they do look under the car and you have a HFC you should be fine.

Invidia's catted downpipe is 100 cell count. I hope that would pass the sniffer test. Either Invidia or Perrin. I don't want to chance it with my test pipe. In case they look under the car.

I live in PA. I had a Invidia Catted Downpipe on my WRX, I have had both test ran on it and it never failed. You will be fine with a HFC on your car.
