02 sensor stripped upon removal

To anyone who has stripped there 02 sensors upon removal from the cat .What have you guys done to get a new one I called all autoparts stores to try and not pay $353 from mitsubishi but nobody has generics. I am tempted to call the local dealer to try and get it replaced but dont want to have pay all that money. Has any one tried to rethread it back in there test pipe or downpipe any help would be great.

Try RussellM. He might be a bit cheaper than the average parts department.

Mine is stripped to HELL too. I'm currently looking for a used replacement. I tried using a Bosch 4 wire from another car, and it didn't work.

you can try using a "heli-coil" kit.

it may work....

...or tap the threads in the sensor bung and run a die on the sensor threads.

"re-threading" may restore the sensor to a useable condition.

if you do get a new sensor ......

.....be sure to coat the threads with anti-sieze compound before installing.

I just had a UR Hi-flow cat installed and the guy stripped mine removing it so he wedged it in. I am going to a welder thursday and having him tack it. just a quick blast that can be chipped away if needed. oxygensensors.com has the for 150.00 delivered. its a unique one that has a 36 inch wire that goes threw the floor.

I tried a universal 4 wire and couldn't get it to work without throwing codes.

Both of my o2 sensors were stripped upon removal. I'm quite sure they were cross-threaded when being installed at the factory. I hand filed them to get them back in.
