Update: Took my Evo in to the dealer and the mechanic said there is nothing wrong with the car. We all know he said that because there is no engine light and there is no way I could make this problem happen. I guess I am going to have to wait until something breaks.

make sure to inspect the hose everyone mentioned. check both sides - this pops off easily.

Wow so, I started my car this morning with no problem and I got to school fine. My car has had no problems with idle or in general, ever. I have 53k on it as well. I parked my car and sat idle for about 5 min and the car started to shake and rpms dropped reeeally low and my ra died. I tried to start it up and it did the same thing. I waited 10 min, and it did the same thing. I began googlibg this problem and I got here. Hopefully I can get some help/advice as well, I don't want to take it into the dealership just for them to tell me nothing is wrong (even if I wanted to the car won't start!) help!!!

I got my ra towed to mitsubishi dealership and am waiting to find out the problem (good thing my car is still under manufacturer warranty) and I also get a free oil change!

It almost sounds like it's going to die and it'll shoot up. On the flip side though, I've had it do the opposite, where the RPM's have gone as high as 1500 to 2000 rpm while backing up out of my drive way? The RPM's don't seem to want to go down until I put it in first and drive off, even when I put it in neutral it will still stick at 1500 +. Something is definitely not entirely right. I'm curious to see what mitsu says about this problem.
It is normal for the engine to idle at 1500 rpm when you first start the car. This is meant to allow the engine to warm up quicker for people who don't warm up their car before driving. Let the car idle for 5 min before driving. It is a turbo charged car.

Get your car tuned. That will solve the crappy Idle issues the X has from the factory. Plus it will help with how rich the car runs naturally (and added safe power as well). Had this issue with my MR, had it tuned by Bryan@GST and now the car not only idles 100x better but it makes more power (safely) it doesn't run so damn rich (making my oil smell like fuel...).

I do let it warm up, I'll start it then make my lunch for work so it sits for at least 3-5 minutes warming up. I did take it into the dealer, they were going to do the new fuel rail (recall part) and had them check it out. They SAY I need a new throttle body and they have to order the part. So when that comes in I"ll see if it fixes the problem.

Who knows if they're right I guess I'll find out when they replace the part. I'll keep updated. Although, this car is only 6 months old and has under 6000 miles on it... I'm not happy with it and am working with the dealer to see about a 2010 model instead. Seems like the 08's have lots of problems and hopefully the 2010's have all the bugs worked out. I've had it in the shop for more recalls and re-flashings than i've ever had with my 06. This is ridiculous! lol.
