Ive had 4 recalls/TSBs

1 -- Hood latch
2 -- Brake check valve
3 -- AWC reflash
4 -- fuel line fix

On top of that:

passenger side front tire is totally bald on the inner (at the dealer now to see what they are going to do)
vibration on decel in 5th/6th
very hard shifting when cold
very rough idle after full temp and very noisy valve train
poor fastkey operation (have to grab handle twice)


And I only have 8300 miles on it.

 

Run your index finger along the inside of the door handle; it works everytime (for me.)

 

Even Fast Key has it's own ECU.

My dealer can't find any info on the AWC reprogramming...gonna print the docs out and take it to them. We'll see if they can find it then!

everyone in California who drives their Evos to the snow cannot receive this patch at a california dealership. The answer from corporate was that we would have to drive to a state that is authorized to perform the flashes.... please help by complaining to corporate that you will excercise your powertrain warrenty on the ACD and they could have prevented it with a simple flash that is available elsewhere.

Damn, happened on a -35˚C day eh? Hmm... this is gonna be the first time I drive my car during winter, so I'll probably see this problem as well.

 

That's nothing. I'm at 30k miles and I have had:
-Shot MAF sensor
-Limp modes for various reasons
-Staple issue in both Recaros
-Faulty steering wheel sensor
-Someone bowled into me while parking
-DRL bulb is out
-Fuel return recall
-Advans flat from nails

Other than that...

 

I've had three flats from nails and I'm hoping and praying it doesn't happen again! So far I've purchased winter tires, purchased summer rims, replaced a windshield, repaired the new windshield, had the aero kit replaced/repaired and hood latch/fuel return. Overall nothing faulty on Mitsubishi's end rather than the hood latch, return pipe and aero.

All common things when dealing with a totally new platform, esp. a performance oriented platform!

 

Got my AWC reflash last week along with my fuel return pipe recall. Now it's in the shop again with another P1235 code pointing to the MAF. Had the MAF replaced back in May, only 2100 miles ago.

It's a pain, but as long as I don't have to shell out any of my own pocket money, I'm ok with it.... For now.

 

Had my fuel line recall and AWC done yesterday at the dealership. At first they didn't know if the AWC TSB applied to my car or not. But after consulting the MEDIC system and me showing them the print outs from the first page, they went ahead and flashed it anyway

 

So i go to college in SC, im guessing i cant get it from the dealer here right? i would have to wait till im back in NY in the winter to get it? should i even bother with it?

 

If you buy it in SC, you'll have to make a trip to one of the North Eastern states where dealers have been provided with this update. Closest one to you Virginia, I got mine done last week in Vienna. Doesn't really matter where you buy the car. What matters is where you take it in to the dealership. You have to remember though, the reprogram actually ensures the AWC is not working at full potential until it gets warmed. Is it really something you'll need in SC ?

 

I bought my car in California, and yes i use my car every winter in the Sierra Nevada mountain range which can see the same cold conditions as any of the northern states listed. I have been denied by dealerships and mitsubishi corporate in being able to apply this patch to my vehicle. According to the service manager my specific VIN # won't allow the patch to be installed on my vehicle.

People in non eligible states should help by filing out a NHTSA form (http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/). I have filled out the form, please help others to be able to at least be able to request this patch.

"I have been denied by dealerships and mitsubishi corporate for a AWD software patch for my vehicle. If the AWD components fail because of driving in cold conditions as stated in the service bulletin which could potentially cause my vehicle to crash when a 20 min software update that is a available now could have prevented it."
