AWC ECU Reprograming campaign
If you buy it in SC, you'll have to make a trip to one of the North Eastern states where dealers have been provided with this update. Closest one to you Virginia, I got mine done last week in Vienna. Doesn't really matter where you buy the car. What matters is where you take it in to the dealership. You have to remember though, the reprogram actually ensures the AWC is not working at full potential until it gets warmed. Is it really something you'll need in SC ?

Hey everyone, sorry to bump an old thread, but having some issues with car after having the S-AWC reflash done.
So I got the reflash done at the dealer about a month ago, but I'm still seeing the "Service Required" with the drive train image on the display. When I started up my car this morning, it was about -29C and I didn't see it on my drive to work. Although, I did see the S-AWC setting on the top of the display (ie, Tarmac, Snow, Gravel) kinda disappear and reappear every so often. It wasn't until just an hour ago I went out for lunch that the Service Required message popped up. It was a bit warmer during lunch time (around -20C) than it was this morning, so I'm not too sure why it didn't happen this morning and happened to me during lunch.
I used to have the Cobb AP Stage 1 Stock Intake map running on my car, but I unmarried it, then ran the car for about a week before I brought it into the dealership for the reflash. I loaded back the Stage 1 map about a week after I got the reflash done. I've been reading on here that the reflash does not effect the ECU at all, so I don't think reloading the Stage 1 Map has clobbered any data that the reflash did. I'm going to unmarry my car when I get home from work today to see if that fixes anything.
Anyone else experience this problem or might know what's wrong?

Are you sure you're not getting the "service required" message because your car actually needs service? What I mean is, the MID has the service mileage/time before service. I'm pretty sure the message "service required" is from that needing to be reset. It's not like the SES light. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's worth a look.

But in any case I emailed the service manager at my dealership and this is what he said:
With this cold weather, the AWC hydralic pump cannot flow the fluid properly to the rear diiff and t-case. The re-flash was to stop the pump from working and burning out. You will recieve this message telling you the S-AWC is not active and defaults to the tarmac setting. This is normal for the cold weather. If the light does continue to stay on when it warms up, please contact me to further diagnos the light.
