Anyone bought a new bare block from Mitsu?

I am getting ready to order my block and was curious if anyone has purchased the bare block. If you have, how were the cylinders finished out of the box? Are they honed for a stock bore piston or is there enough there where I can do my own for an 86mm piston install?

There isn't a lot of info on Mitsu replacement parts

Thanks in advance.

Will be honed/plateaued for the stock piston application, but will provide plenty of material for another hone to get the proper piston-to-wall clearance for your new forged stock-size pistons.

That is if you are planning on running additional wall clearance for more boost. If not, it's pretty much a mic the pistons, bore check the cylinders, make sure clearances are as desired, and slap them in, job.

I just bought an oem block. List price is $1850.42 USD. I'll let you know the what the cylinders are finished like when I receive it next week. Also, for $3300 USD, you can buy a complete shortblock assembly. The part # for the complete shortblock is 1000B021.

I just bought an OEM short block which had the pistons and rods and crank in it and everything was basically ready to go. I used the other parts needed off of my old one and everything is ready and good to go.

Its too bad you already bought that, because you got rolled! MSRP isn't even that high.

Complete Short Block - $2280.60
Bare Block - $1268.89

I found a couple motors through LKQ and they wanted $5000 - 6500 and will not separate parts. New is cheaper and easier, and you always run the risk of cracked crap with crashed cars.

I bought a new assembled shortblock. It is not 100% complete with oil pump and pan...it has just crank, rods, and pistons. Decided to do that instead of building it and I stuck the extra couple grand in my daughter's piggy bank

So, you paid $2200 for the shortblock from a local dealer?
