To the girls/guys who responded to this post...what route did you go with on saving the mc ring from snapping?

Going with a $1400 clutch with only 3-400whp is silly.

Money can be put to better use elsewhere by going with a single disc 6 puck or street disc.

Exclamation Plastic Master Cylinder!

Any issues with the HD PP and eventually splitting the Plastic Master Cylinder on the EVO X?

This is how I think of it....

1 Exedy twin disc= estimate 1800- now this will do but I hear they wear out rather quick

now you can get 3 ACTs for the price of that ! lol

me ill stick with the ACT

i was thinking ACT sprung 6 puck ... i think it suits my hp level, and its affordable.

the exedy twin disk is a bit overkill for my future hp goals.

Ok. I had an ACT sprung 6puck in my car, which shattered at 408 whp.... bear in mind i am still on my stock turbo, so i do have just over 400fpt (could be part of the reason) but im going to assume that you will be on stock turbo as well being that you said you dont plan on too much power (more than 400). Understandably you would not want to buy a $1000+ clutch if you dont need to, but wouldent you rather not risk spending the money twice... and a clutch and flywheel that weighs less than 20 lbs is AWESOME. it is kind of a pain to learn to use, but your leg will never be tired again. I would say go with the quartermaster twin. I really dont think you will be disappointed and you wont have to worry about possibly needing to buy more than one clutch. just my $.02. plus it converts it to a push so you wont have the clip issues anddddddd you can adjust the engagement point.... which is just awesome

How much are quartermaster clutches running?

Do you know which vendors offer QM clutches?

clutch option

I had the same question a couple of days ago and i talked to TTP Engineering. They have a good deal for EvolutionM Users. I told them what power i was planning on making with my New GT35R setup and they highly recommended the ACT HD clutch. They said the exedy twin was good but it will wear out quickly because it doesn't have alot of material on it. I would not go with exedy unless it was the Twin carbon carbon but your not running that much power for that..... i bought the ACT HD clutch for my setup with the street flywheel. I think max torque is 650 ft/lb. I'm probably going to launch it at the track a couple of times and MOSTLY race off a roll. Just my two cents on things.

ps. Dont know which ACT stwhollywood bought but ACT makes like 10 different kinds. TTP Engineering teamed up with ACT and they configured a clutch just for them.

Great info guys.

My plan is no more than 500whp. I was discussing with someone earlier today, and they said the act xtreme duty clutch and sprung 6 puck cluck would be sufficient. And to top it off, the price would be less than $1000.

yeah, i dont know what ACT was in mine, it was in the car when i got it but that was it... dont know why the guy upgraded the clutch for stock power, but whatever. worked great till it shattered. haha. twin discs definitely arent for everyone, just of all the people i know, once you get one you never go back. but with the price being what it is i understand why most turn away.

Stock clutches can't take too many launches, even on stock power. Anyone that does auto-x will probably burn it up pretty quick.

The one that shattered for you may have been a street setup (stage 1) rather than a six puck.

If you can handle the engagement (it's not that bad, even my gf can drive it) of the ACT 6-puck, then get one of those. If driven nicely when not racing, you should see at least 20k of life out of it.

It's my 2nd 6-puck clutch, and it's great IMO. I'm not a fan of any clutch that has the potential of burning up; I've always run ceramic/metallic or carbon/metallic clutches in my modded cars.
