Please help, shifter boot is stuck!

okay guys I previously had a TWM desert eagle shift knob...I guess what happened was it pushed down the "stopper" to accommodate the massive size of the shift knob....now when I'm trying to remove my shift boot, that thing won't budge...it's like stuck onto the shifter shaft itself....I'm like pulling and pulling but I just don't want to break something...please help!

The picture above is for reference....theres like a huge gap right there and the boot itself will not come up any further

Take the entire piece off (pull the section around the ebrake, take off two screws, pull the shifter boot section). Then flip the boot inside out and you should be able to get more leverage to get it off, hopefully without ripping it.

i've been there.

follow this guide: http://www.redlinegoods.com/EvoXinstall.shtm

when it comes to the step of removing the boot, do it SLOWLY. you do not want to rip the rubber stopper apart, as replacing that would mean buying the entire shifter assembly to get it.

If you turn the shift boot inside out there should be a zip tie holding this piece in place. You can cut it, it's a very standard size zip tie easy to find. It should give enough clearance to remove the complete shift boot from the shifter.

I love my TWM short shifter, console bushings, and shift ball, but the zip tie that you guys supply in the kit is too large (way larger than the stock zip tie). When shifting I could feel the head of the zip tie through the shift boot.

So I went to the hardware store and got a smaller one...all is good now.
