Took the clutch restrictor had problems.
Hi Guys,
ok so I took the clutch restrictor out and bleed the clutch line.
BUT after bleeding the clutch never pop'd out on it's own.
I bled some more and it was the same, so I pumped the pedal quite a lot and now its pop'ing out automatically, but it feels like it could get stuck down again.
Also the clutch pedal still feels very weak for the first half of travel and then fine down the bottom.
Is there something in the bleed procedure I am missing:
1) Open nipple
2) Push clutch all the way down (it "clunks" down and holds at the bottom)
3) Close nipple
4) Manually pull clutch UP
5) Check reservoir to ensure its full (yes I know about the mini reservoir (different in the X to the IX btw!)
6) Repeat From 1)
Do I need to do the push down/pull up fast/slow? Do I need to do the repetitions fast (to push any air bubbles through???)
Do I need to bleed the master cylinder in any special way?
ps - first impressions on restrictor less clutch line = lower engagement point, much firmer engagement.
Cheers

I take out the restrictor out in all my Mitsu's. I just bleed the clutch the same as you bleed your brakes.
Plus two people is really a must to get it right. It's too hard to do it by yourself even with a pump.

I've always had a speed bleeder on my clutch and brake systems, basically I just have to open it up and pump. For the clutch that means leaving it open while you pump it several times, manually lifting it off the floor. Then Refill the brake reservoir to make sure it never gets low enough to suck air in. I always use a clear piece of tubing leading to a container of the old brake fluid and after a while the tubing should have no air bubbles and it's time to close it up. It's possible you have a larger air pocket in there still somewhere but I'm not sure what mini reservoir you are talking about.

Yeah clear hose on the nipple - no air bubbles.
ok with brake bleeding you pump the brake pedal a couple of times and then hold down then open the nipple.
I was just doing single pumps with the clutch...
on the IX the reservoir had a little corner specifically for the clutch - so you could have a situation where that corner was empty but the reservoir looked full.
the X is different, the clutch line comes of the bottom of the reservoir so it will suck all the brake fluid from the reservoir... better IMHO.
I might go buy another couple of bottles of HTX115 and redo it. Do I need to "pump up" the clutch like brakes? or is single pump then open nipple ok?

Thanks - that's almost the same as the X bit.
really I am doing it pretty much right, I think because I did the restrictor pill there must be a lot of air in there.
I guess I will keep doing it, but faster to push the bubble down and out...
