Unfortunately I don't think NGK sell the plugs directly yet... Just get some or order some from a Mitsubishi dealer.
I don't believe any other plugs except stock heat range are necessary unless you're pushing a TON more power. "8" heat range is already a pretty cool plug, and with this engine being all aluminum, it runs cooler than the 4G63. I'd say these 8 range plugs are good for 500 WHP, honestly. I've run 8 heat range plugs on much hotter-running engines, up to about 600 WHP, with absolutely no pre-ignition issues.
I know it's anecdotal evidence, but I know of many Hondas pushing 700+ WHP running 7 heat range plugs.
It depends a TON on combustion chamber design and cooling facilities, but take it for what it's worth.

HKS 40 = 8 NGK Heat Range
HKS 45 = 9 NGK Heat Range
I just pulled my 45XL's since I was getting some misfires at WOT. My tuner doesn't recommend going colder, especially on E85 (which I'm now running).
The stock plugs are fine but if you're going with HKS then I'd suggest the 40XL's unless you have a very good reason to try the 45's.

The 4B11 is a HOT engine .. increase the power and you definitely need 9's .. thats the reason they use 8 as stock ..
wonder if Eclipse3GT found his weener yet after finding out the price of the B2556-9 !!

I've maxed out my stock turbo and based on my own results, they perform worse. I'll set them aside for next year...maybe I'll go big turbo and back to pump gas. Who knows...

Don't compare other engine models ..
My info is MY own testing .. the way the evo is supposed to be run .. hard on the track .. NOT a DRAG ..
And it is a DD .. and I get around 28mpg 40/60
There is no reason to change if you keep the car stock though
Here in the USA they want to *** rape you with the prices.
www.Race-Mart.com
Will have them in stock on 12/23.
The ceramic piece cracking off seems to be a problem here now. Alot of shops here are recommending the NGK Racing plugs since it has a shorter ceramic piece.

They are pushing big numbers with the ETS 35R kits, obviously horsepower depends on the dyno. DG made a point of saying that they are using stock plugs and coils and I've read other tuners on here saying the same.
My car was doing fine on the 45XLs on pump with a 26psi tune. E85 and 29psi isn't happy. I'm not keen about adjusting the gap on plugs that you're not supposed to gap, but it might come to that.
