ok for anybody that stumbles upon this thread and is wondering what they need for the install of an FP turbo, GET SOME STUDS!!! M10 125!! YOU WILL NEED THEM MOST LIKELY!

with that off of my chest, needless to say we couldn't get the stock studs out of my damn turbo and we tried absolutely everything imaginable. we ended up wasting 2 hours trying to figure this out, and it turns out that the last place we thought of ended up having the exact size, and they were the only ones in utah county that sell studs apparently.

we came back and put everything in back together and into the car. last thing we did was tightened the bolts for the oil feed line and the drain line. we also did a little something something extra too, here are some pics.

Thanks to Turbo Performance Products for a Great quality Turbo Blanket.

Yeah those stock turbo studs can be a bear, new studs or just replacing them with bolts is your best bet. So using the double nut method with lots of PB blaster soaking into the threads on the studs didn't help?

yeah that does seem like a real pain. Before I put my downpipe on I was considering taking off the o2 housing and maybe polishing the inside since I can't afford a new o2 housing, but after people were talking about how the bolts were snapping off and such I decided I didn't want that kind of trouble... even with just doing the DP I PB blasted ALL of the bolts that I was going to touch o2 sensor as well like 3 or 4 times and let the car set for 2 or 3 days. I'll do the same thing with the other o2 sensor when I put the rest of the exhaust on.

Yeah the double nut with pb didn't work at all. Finally got the turbo installed today and it feels awesome!! Can't wait to get on a dyno and tune for timing now.

I've got a quick question for those who have done this (or just anyone with an opinion). I'm putting mine on in a few weeks (FP Red, Down Pipe, Injectors, and fuel pump).

My question is about getting it tuned. I already have an appt to get this tuned, but they're 2.5 hours away. Would it be best if I have the car put on a flat bed and taken up there, or do you think I could drive up there as long as I turn the boost way down?

I was also considering just installing the turbo here and installing the injectors and fuel pump closer to the tuning shop (at my parents house which is real close to the tuning shop). I was thinking this might be better so I don't flood the engine with gas.

if you're AP tuned, you can get an OTS map with your injectors, and just drive very careful to not hit much boost. you'll get there just fine that way

if you are talking about the bolt the is on the bottom from the hotside then its a 14mm.

i went in from the middle / front of the car and as you pass the subframe, look up and in my case, as i looked up it was at about 11 o'clock.

we used a 14mm swivel socket attached to i want to say a 12 inch extension. believe it or not, we started with an impact and i thought i was going deaf as it was right on my right ear, nothing. it did not budge. at this point i was peeing in my pants already. told my friend to get the breaker bar and just one good "thug" it was off.

believe it or not putting it on was a breeze. obviosuly with the swivel socket and extension and just my right hand turning it in.

i friend just swapped out turbo's and the shop he initially went to did not even put the bolt on the turbo from the top and no bolt on the hotside on the bottom.

i wouldn't do it though if i were you. i would like to put everything as it was when i take something off.

good luck.
