First Mil.Spec bolt-on HFC installed

First off, I want to say thanks to Erik for his great customer service. He knew I had a deadline and did everything he could to make that deadline for me. Apparently I've just installed the first Mil.Spec Evo X 100 cell HFC.

What to say? Mil.Spec has a reputation for making the best high flow cat. It's 3" all the way, stainless steel, mandrel bends, the fit was perfect, and the cat is definitely high flow since I can see through the cells. For those of you worried about smell, I couldn't detect any smell from the exhaust. As far as numbers go, I'm scheduled for a tune tomorrow at GST.

Technically it's the 2nd Evo X unit, but it's the first pre-production version. The first was a prototype

Well, the car made 291whp and 294wtq. Feels great. I'll post dyno sheet on the dyno forum

Sorry, couldn't tell you. The baseline dyno was with all the bolt-ons, so we don't have a good before/after.

Is that 291whp / 294wtq after the tune with your accessport? sounds kinda low with all of your mods, no? mustang dyno?

yeah, i was hoping for more, but I guess this is a reasonable number for an MR on California 91 octane

Was there a big differance in the sound when you switched from the stock cat to the mil spec high flow cat?

maybe 'slightly' more raspy, but not noticeable unless you're really looking for it. The buschur exhaust does a good job of keeping things quiet. No droning on the highway. Sounds almost like stock when you're cruising.

Well, TECHNICALLY... j/k

I've been running the Mil.Spec 100-cell (custom cat pipe) for about 5-6 weeks and I'm happy with it. Butt dyno noticed a slight drop in power over the testpipe, but definitely one of the highest flowing cats you can find. It still smells, but is a big improvement over running cat-less and should get better as I work on my tune.

And a big for Erik's customer service.

I think we need to get a definition of "smells" here LOL

Does it filter like an OEM cat? No. But we use high-quality PGM coatings...your car should smell NOTHING like raw exhaust when running our cats

Just ask anyone that has to tune these cars in a cramped dyno room. You won't walk out of there with red, watering eyes like you will with a test pipe

I've been running the Mil.Spec for 6 months and didn't notice any difference in smell from the stock cat on 91oct. I do notice more of a smell on E85 but it smell doesn't bother me.
