it's all a joke man. the only sensible reason CARB exists is to make money for the government, and for the political gains of its supporters. think about it... who pays for certification? who gains when a car is caught with illegal components? who looks better when stricter rules are made?

as for your argument about a high flow cat not being able to pass, do you mean specifically on an evo, or on all cars in general? because i have 3 cars, all of which have high flow cats, and all that have been tested have passed. sounds to me like you mean just on an evo though... but sorry if misunderstand, as it's hard to follow your logic.
All good, but i have been to Sacramento and listened to a hearing where C.A.R.B. was discussing evironmental issues, and let me just say this, automobile not even their biggest issue, they talk about agricultural machines, companies waste products even aerosol products, its actually no joke. they are trying to solve problems where the quality of air is terrible.

The new smog laws are trying to solve some problems which w/ people are creating. People are trying to holding on to their POS cars that are causing pollution, people with old cars change their cats like every year b/c the owner of the cars will not fix the real problem and will put on a new cat when then need to go for smog. A cat should not go bad unless the person doesnt maintain their car properly. The new laws require people to fix the origin of the problem of the car instead of having a new cat just bandage the car's really problem. The system is not perfect and people try and short cut or find loop holes.

As for your high flow cat, im mostly talking about the metal substraight cats and not the ceramic brick cats. The EPA method of classification of cats is a old method of classification. When a cat says its rated for 5.9L, 6,000lbs rating this is a method of rating back in the 70-80. which cars were only carburated. New fuel injected cars flow alot more exhaust and air compared to the old cars. (man i am really straying away) But anyhow, how do you really know how much Platinum, ore palladium or even rhodium your cat uses. those metal cats are usually crap, i have used many different ones: Maremont which is now cherry bomb metal cats, magnaflow metal substraight cats even the Cobb high flow metal cat is crap.

Most stock cats are in the 600cell counts, and are heavily loaded w/ precious metals, do you think your aftermarket cat can even compare to reduction or oxidation of your stock cat. There is a reason why people are stealing cats of OEM and not aftermarket.

I must appoligize my english and my thoughts since i have a tendency to ramble on.

interesting... thanks for explaining! and i didn't know carb covered so many other things than cars. ....i still don't understand why carb certification for car parts is needed at all though. if a single car's overall pollution production meets measureable guidelines, why does it matter how each individual part is designed? i guess that's my main point--why care so much about an individual part, especially when you consider its performance is always affected by the system where it is integrated?

We can now offer cats for people **** about CARB certification...but they're 300 cell units (I think) and not 100.

OP how did you get your wb02 sensor to reach? My car is stuck in the garage. I just can't figure out how to get the lc1 wb sensor to reach that side. My test pipe had the sensor bug on the passenger side.

any ideas?

There should be enough length in the 02 sensor wires. We suggest to zip-tie the wire to the driveshaft support bracket when you run the wire to the other side.

That's a good idea. It looks like my lc1 cable is just crazy short. I'll be ordering a longer one.

I'm very impressed by the weight of this hfc. It weighs about as much as my test pipe. Good job Erik!
