? about stock IC w/FP green
? about stock IC w/FP green
will the stock unit be sufficient for the time being with an FP green? I'd love to have an upgraded core but the turbo, injectors, pump, install, etc, is already more than I can afford
The OEM intercooler is 19.25X11.5X2.75" and has a pressure drop of around 1.5 psi. Aftermarket intercoolers are larger, obviously, and benefit from a lower pressure drop of ~0.6-1.3 psi. Some of the benefits of aftermarket coolers are overstated because of the heatsink effect (earlier intake charge is cooled faster because more mass is able to absorb more heat).
IMHO, you should plan on upgrading the intercooler at some point, but could get by without it depending on your needs.

Personally if you can't afford the IC, I would say wait on the green. Get all of your supporting mods first. There will be lots and stuff could go wrong and then you will need more money.
I am not telling you what to do, just suggesting...things tend to go over budget all the time, especially if you don't do your own installs. Just some food for thought.

Case in point: I spent $600 on a used cobb AP, and just saw someone sold one for around $350 the other day. I could have saved a large chunk of cash with some patience.
So I think this is good advice for everyone. Take your time, let others be the guinea pigs, and save your money. I'm an engineer, but I tell you with all seriousness that right now any moron could make money in the stock market. If you take some extra cash and invest it for a bit you will easily pay for all those mods over the next year. My two cents, haha.
