of course the red will produce more power up top..

but thats not the argument... I don't drive around at 5500+ rpm everyday..

to me the loss of spool is a big thing

if you want to make a point and shoot rocket, then yeh go a red... but if you want something more manageable then stock or green

Come on guys,

I know some people have load data for both these turbo's. Please provide load data during spool so people can have accurate data..

Also, I notice some green owners have regret for not buying the red. In my experience this can be from a few factors:

1. The never ending need/want for more power.
2. They track their car and spool isn't as important.
3. Some people decide to forgo low end for top end.

Any green owners wanna confess as to why they regret the green purchase? Are you just plain used to your power and want more?

I haven't heard any red owners regret the red and wished they had gotten a green. Any red owners unhappy with the lag? Are most red owners running E85 and/or tracking more than Daily driving?

I also agree that a turbo between the Green and Red is needed, but at what cost? Currently the conversion price from stock to red is 999.99 on FP website, I don't think it gets much better than that.

this may be a dumb question, but will doing other mods (besides cams) help the red spool any faster? (porting or aftermarket exhaust manifold)

I'm also trying to decide between the red and the green and keep seeing all the posts about people wishing they bought the red over the green. Seems like a no brainer, but i don't have a specific hp goal in mind. I just want minimal lag and more power than stock. Like mentioned above, no red owners have posted that they would have rather gotten a green, which sort of leads me to believe that lag is not really that much of an issue, i just don't want to be the first guy that gets a red and wishes he had gotten a green instead.

hollywood_x posted a really good review of the green, he said it felt like a NA car and that he had power all the time. This is exactly what im looking for, the only problem is that hes cammed with MX1's and i don't know if i want cams.

Anybody in NJ with a green or red? I'd pay for a tank of gas for someone if they would take me for a short ride. Its hard for me to get a really good understanding of the power difference between the red and the green on paper

I my experience cams will increase spool time, not decrease it. So spool will take LONGER with cams, but you get the loss back and much more on the top end around 6-8k.

I wonder if FP has a 30 day exchange policy, in case you choose the wrong one

Anyone with a Red, or any aftermarket turbo for that matter, if you could go run a 4th gear datalog from 2000rpm, even if you only go to 5000rpm, that would give enough data to show what spoolup is like on the street. I think a lot of us would really appreciate it We could actually get a sticky going with stock turbo logs vs. aftermarket turbo to show the realistic spoolup characteristics on the street. They would all have to be done the exact same way though, even though it wouldn't account for MIVEC tuning.

I agree, though I like 3rd gear..easier on the street do to speed limits

Make a run on flat ground and list your mods along with your load/boost data, that would be GREAT!

Come on guys!

Ive read 5 pages of post and all I keep hearing is spool this and spool that. I coming from a 500+hp big turboed evo 9. When racing a car and driven right you will not fall out of boost at all between shifts. I had a T3/60-1 that made full boost at about 4500rpm. When drag racing i no lift shifted at 8500 rpms and stayed in boost all the time and the same with road racing. If its a bit laggy on the streets who cares, your not racing ( i hope). Ive 14 cars performance since 2000 and street lag is the price you pay for big hp. Do research cause you will find that if 400 is all you want then (meth or E85 , injectors, fuel pump and cams ) with stock turbo will achieved the numbers all day long with a good tuner that is and spool will be instant (full boost at idle LOL) and it will a heck of alot cheaper then a turbo, injectors fuel pump and tune.

V8, I understand what your saying, I just don't agree. I do have lag concerns and I also have driven big turbo cars for a long time.

My driving style has changed with age and I don't want to redline the car all the time to drop back into the powerband.

To me quick spool is important and since I already have a FP and injectors, a turbo is a no brainer..

I have no E85 stations around and prefer not to use meth....so here I am.

The question is why do we have 5 pages of posts and very little data. I am not asking people to post their tunes, just some boost/load data from 2-5k...

Come on guys gimme some data!!!!!!
