8000 rpms
8000 rpms
I was leaking oil and took it to the dealer. Its the transfer case o-ring. So they ordered me a new transfer case (under warranty). The mechanic was telling me for the 2010 model evos only, they will throw a code if you go over 8000 rpms and your entire warranty is voided. You can not delete this code(thats what he said). The only way to do this is down shift very poorly or instead of trying to hit third gear you hit first. Has anyone ever heard of this?? You would think if you throw that code the CEL would come on right???
the code is probably stored along with freeze frame data at the time when the code was set that can be accessed with a scan tool and viewed...freeze frame data can be cleared tho...sounds like he was BS'ing you
I have heard of on guy getting this code from a launch gone wrong and at the beginning he couldnt clear the code with his AP but after a 24 hour period he was able to delete it. Kind scary that a shifting error can ruin your warranty. I know it can ruin your engine too but thats besides the point haha
As far as Mitsubishi's concerned, that's exactly the point. They don't want to do warranty work on a car that's been over-revved.
Supposedly some people have had success clearing the code if they try enough times.
