3.5" intake for stock-frame turbo?

My tuner informs me that I'm maxing out the MAF voltage on the 3" AMS intake that I bought for my setup. AMS confirmed that they had to do a custom 3.5" inake on Gates' car once he crossed into the low 500's.

I'm trying to figure out what my options are. AMS doesn't sell anything larger for a stock frame. ETS said they'd do a 3.5" for me but it'd take a few weeks since they may have to machine the proper flanges for it (to fit their standard MAF housing).

Those of you over 500whp on a stock-frame turbo...what intake are you using? Do you know what your MAF voltage maxes out at?

I've got emails into CBRD for advice but thought I'd get as much input as possible. The car has a built motor, ported head, BBX on E85, MX1 cams...currently maxing the MAF at 25psi.

so you are now at 5.00 volts... try rescaling the maf? Are you using stock maf scaling?

I'd assume that my tuner would have done that if it were needed. Adjusting the voltage isn't going to make the pipe flow more air. If AMS says that their intake runs out around that point then I'm inclined to take their word for it.

You can't rescale the maf if it is maxed out. He's hitting the physical limit of the sensor.

Lomker, I'm kinda thinking something like this:

plus this:

plus a short 1.5" pipe for recirculating your BOV. Do it to it

I believe what our tuner is talking about is the MAF housing pipe diameter, so it needs to be a bigger diameter right at the MAF.

AMS used the 3.5" intake on Gates' car because of this issue and probably used a flange like the one Scheides linked.

I thought rescaling was simply for the size of the piping, which is why people get all bummed out when you don't use the stock 2.5" size on aftermarket intakes and you must rescale for 3". So now a 3.5" is needed an it must be rescaled again. ECUflash has those tables for the X now right?

The standard releases do not, but if you know what's up, you know where the tables are

Soooo, can you in essence just scale the 3" for more flow or as I had originally described do you need a bigger intake (i assume Shane knows about this, but perhaps he just didn't know about the scaling???)

In case anyone is wondering, Chad @CBRD commented on the other forum and thought he could whip something up.
