HAHa. Warranty on clutch?

Got my evo tuned by AMS, 300awhp and 309ft-lbs to the wheels. I got AEM intake, AMS hot pipe, widemouth downpipe, test pipe, Greddy TI-C catback, and forge wastegate. I haven’t gotten crazy on the build yet because trying to pay off my 4 year loan in one year 6 months (December will be my last payment).

The car has 15k on it and the clutch has started to slip sooooo the question is do I try to get it warranted or get a twin plate and pay for installed? If I do this it will set my last pay to Jan. IDK, has anyone try to get the dealership to cover their clutch. I am not trying to be cheap; I am just trying my hardest to pay off the car 1st!!!!

They are simple mods. So that no big deal.

I would say, just bite the bullet and pay for the better clutch. Seems like a lot of work for another stock clutch that will probably be going out pretty quickly again.

stock clutches are garbage. just pay it up, if you try to get it warrantied your just wasting your time since it has to be done some time.

me and a buddy did my clutch in my garage. just need your basic tools plus tourque wrench and a slide hammer? (the thing you screw into transmission, then 'slide' the hammer to pull it out) took us 2 days, and it was well worth the learning experience.

I replaced the original clutch with another oem clutch. Bad decision, paid 2k for the new stock clutch and installation when an Exedy twin wouldve cost the same...

The warranty will absolutely not cover your clutch. If you had 2000 miles on it and no mods, they might just consider it.

^^ even then they won't cover it. Don't waste your time. Bottom line is that you're putting out at least 20% more stress on the clutch due to mods than you would if it were stock, and you STILL got 15k out of it. I'd consider that a victory

If you do try to go the warranty route, they'll put you in a bad situational: They'll say they MIGHT be able to warranty it if they take it apart and look and find signs of any defects. If they don't (they wont), they'll charge you $800 in labor for the inspection. Then they'll say they'll cut you a deal on the labor if you buy a new OEM clutch for them. You'll be out $1.5k to get the same crappy clutch. Just get a clutch you actually want

Clutch is a wear item. They won't warranty it.

clutch is not under warranty and Mitsubishi is notorious for weak clutches.. your best bet is to replace the clutch not to worry again.

I had the same issue with EVO 8 with 2000 miles. The car was in excellent condition and clutch started to act up... I took it in before it wore out or burn.. I had to go through national dispute center...
It took over 3 months to prove and I ended up no using the car for months.... So it was not worth it.

On the all EVOs and on their website, they say that it is wear tear
so it will not be under warranty.. and plus it all depends on your dealers attitude and mood to give you further trouble for any kind of mods. It is subjective and could be interpreted anyway (even for simple mods)

I bought EVO X and the first thing I will do is to replace the clutch. It is brand new but I sure will need to replace it in 1 year...

I been running on my stock clutch for over 30 thousand miles and it's still goin strong and not slipping, got most of the bolt on mods and my dealer still covers my car under warranty EXCePT the **CLUTCH**. I had it replaced at 20 thousand miles when I bought the car from the previous owner who destroyed the clutch. And dealer did not cover it and I payed 2600 to get the stock one put in again. So If I knew better I would of gotten a aftermarket Clutch at the time cause then I would not be scared to heavily mod the car!!!! My point is that the stock is not bad but aftermarket will allow u to mod the car and support more HP
