GREAT! T-case is shot!

So I've been having some strange noises. Turns out my T-case is poo. Metal leaking out everywhere lol.

What's my best option? To send it to shep and let them rebuild it? Any Advice Appreciated!

A friend recently had one go and Shep doesn't rebuild them. He found a salvage one for $1k.

Jacks transmissions rebuilds them but it's $1500.

Jacks does make it stronger and you could upgrade the front diff while they are in there. I'm not sure why Shep doesn't do anything with them.

this was the first noise: only under full throttle/boost

then about a hundred miles later, I started to hear a chatter only when decelerating. It was strange, If i was accelerating I couldn't hear anything. And no it's not b/c the engine noise/exhaust was covering it. As soon as I would push on the gas the noise would stop. As soon as i take my foot off, the noise would start.

I have 440whp, 390wtq. Do you think that the problem is due to the amount of power i have? Or possibly just a bad one? ex loose bearing, or maybe the shop didnt fill it up all the way last time they changed the fluid.

Will I be ok just getting another stock t-case?

How often did you launch? All it takes is a piece breaking off of the ring gear and your insides are munched. Especially if you don't catch it RIGHT away.

Launched at the track probably around 7 times with my latest setup, but that was probably a few hundred miles before i started hearing any type of noise.

Being that the car was still perfectly driveable (minus the noise), the differential in the transfer case should be fine right?

It only takes once to make a stress fracture. Once that fracture is there it can break at any normal driving time.

Not necessarily. If a tooth broke off of the ring gear, it could be bouncing around in there chewing it up. Worst case scenario.
