Just let results make your decision. Don't let anyone sway you either way.

who is to say that a ported exhaust manifold got anyone of those x.xx passes? its like saying my k&n filter was what got me to the 9s. I think the only way that we can actually do a "whos manifold" is better is to get a test car running real world #s. maybe a 330whp bolt on stock turbo car on pump gas 93 oct , no e85/meth. 22-25psi and run it 1 dyno pull same correction factor/ same day ect.

It is November, not peak season. And the difference is simple. Just like chevy, map runs deep. Lol

I was there and witnessed the entire process first-hand. Same car (was not even unstrapped), same tune, same boost, same day, etc. I'd have to dig through the archives, but I'm pretty sure the MAP was good for +8 peak whp showing gains throughout the entire powerband with nothing lost down low.

I'm personally waiting for Murlo to go tubular so I can buy his

I appreciate the support guys, I just hope this thread doesn't turn into anything like the last one. It's clear you can go fast with the BR manifold, we just spend some extra time in there to squeeze out a few extra horsepower, whether it is worth the money or not is completely up to each individual enthusiast.

Chris, I completely agree. The reason I started this thread was to find out if there was any added value in spending $100+ more than the BR ported Mani. Obviously the community believes there is. No one has said that the BR job is bad, just that the MAP job takes to a step further, hence the extra cost and extra proven HP. So if a person is looking to squeeze every last bit of power out of there current turbo, they most likely will be willing to spend the extra money.

Thanks to everyone for your feedback.

Chris, I just received received a mail from Nate@Map after i enquired on the progress of my ported manifold. He mentioned that most Evo X cast iron manifolds are prone to cracks when it is worked upon for porting & the guys at MAP are in the process of wielding the cracks up before smoothing them out for the final ceramic coat.
If cracks pop up during the porting, wouldn't it make them more prone to cracking further & larger after it has been installed? there is also a possibility of the flanges warping due to the extreme heat from the wielding.
Hope you could shed some info here as my manifold is being worked upon right now as we speak & there are cracks appearing

The Evo X manifolds appear to be more prone to cracking in general in comparison to the Evo 8 & 9 as we have seen several cores come in with a large crack in the divider area. The cracking, however, has nothing to do with the porting process so I believe there may have been some miscommunication. I was not aware that we were going to attempt to weld the manifolds, but if we did we would flat sand the flanges to ensure they are not warped. I will clarify that with my team and report back.
