Forgot small oil filter on motor reassembly

I got flustered looking for a lost tool and forgot to put in this small oil filter/restrictor (?). Is this worth puling the head back off (and a new HG) for? Service manual lists this as the Engine Oil Control Valve (OCV) filter.

I would think that w/o it, oil pressure might be affected.

could you put it back in by removing the control solenoid

from the outside of the engine and pushing it in someway ?

..or does it not go where i am thinking it does ?

It goes perfectly verically, with the little 'fin' side up, somewhere well into the block. No easy way to put it in but yank the head back off. Facepalm.

Sucks..but engine failure because you were to lazy to do it right would suck more.

I dont know if it's needed or not, but if it was there before I wouldn't risk it. Sucks you have to take it all apart again but better safe then sorry

that looks like the filter for the MIVEC system, I say put it in unless because if the actuators get jammed with debris from the engine, it will throw a code and the car wont have the correct valve timing

Head gasket

I forgot to put mine in. For some reason I thought it was in the head and noticed after I had everything torqued down. I have ARP 625s so I don't see a problem with head Studs, but do you think I'll be okay reusing my 5 layer head gasket?

Question about this thread

Sorry to revive such an old thread, but would anyone here happen to know what would occur to oil pressure if the car is run without the OCV filter mesh? Im assuming it would lower oil pressure. Would appreciate feedback.

So I believe it won't be an issue for your engine if you were doing MIVEC delete... but it could screw up MIVEC since that filter restricts pressure to the Mivec system. You can retorque the same head gasket down since you haven't applied heat. I forgot mine and had to take it all apart to put the filter in.
