Question 500 HP Evo X - Ignition Question...

I am about to get my X tuned and she should be putting down a little over 500 horsepower. My question is...what spark plugs should I put in. I've been hearing that the NGK Iridium +1 Colder ones work great. If so, what gap should I get them in? I am reading DSPORT right now and it is saying .032. Thanks for the help.

One step colder plugs can help control knock a bit when pushing the edge, but they could worsen MPG when your engine is cold although I never noticed anything. Using a .032" is far too wide of a gap, typically for a car around stock horsepower levels the .026-.028" may work ok, but when you start to flow more air past them I found that even that was too wide.

Right now at .022" I can run just about any boost and airflow levels through my engine that I can throw at it. When I was in the .028" range after switching to the GT30 turbo, I could barely run over 22 psi before encountering spark blow out.

Ok, so you are running .022...sounds good. How much power are you pushing? Odd how DSPORT listed .032 then...

I am running stock plugs at 570whp...they work perfect, I think mine are also gapped around .022".

I've seen way way more problems from people using other plugs that aren't stock then when people stay with stock plugs.

Honestly, i wouldn't stray from stock.

I believe there have been people up over 700whp on stock plugs and they work fine.
