I understand you are not trying to insult anyone. Me neither by the way. I just want good info posted for everyone!

I read that statement on another site I found yesterday also and it's only for non-boosted engines.

The simple answer is on a NA car with 9:1 static comp. the overlap from the cams will take away some of the cylinder pressure thus lowering the dynamic comp. to lower then 9:1.

But with a boosted engine even with the lose of some pressure with overlap from the cams, turbo/supercharger engines keep cramming air/fuel into the engine keeping cylinder pressure higher then the static comp. There is only so much room in the combustion chamber

I just hope we helped to educate someone who read this thread

It's a bit late for me now, but what are people's thoughts on Carrillo Rods?

Would be interested to hear!

We got a decision on the new engine. So it will be a 2L with 9:5:1 compression.
Custom CP pistons and Manley rods.

I'm getting ready to have my motor built and I've been reading up on rods and what they can handle, I always read 'its not the hp that kills its the tq' so that being said, what are the Manley H Beam rated for? I know hp they can go up to 600hp safely but I can't find anywhere what tq they can handle.

Thanks!

We run Cosworth rods and Cosworth pistons, never had one problem at 800whp and 9.X track times.

Rods

Pistons 9:1

The motor has been together for almost 2 years now, it may have low miles.. but they are definitely hard miles.

The block it self is stock w/ no sleeves and stock crank.

Good Luck!

That was our other choice. But because the compression we did go for CP ( 9:5:1). And from there wasn't really a reason to go cosworth rods anymore. I also have a Manley H beam rods. Stock crank and block no sleeving. Stock head and gaskets. Colder plugs since we will run 104 race gas only. /rally rules won't let you run higher/
here is my set up :
