just the way evos are......when you change the fluids later on try putting some synchromesh in the tranny.

New fluid and shifter bushings would be a great start.

Yea it will get better over time. Just about all the X's have this problem. There's two things that helped alleviate mine. I bought the TWM short shifter and bushings, with one of their weighted shift knobs and mine pretty much went away. Some people swapped their tranny fluid and that works too. I have new fluid and the SS and mine shifts VERY nice now..

thanks for the help guys, ill try that out soon. assuming a short shifter doesnt affect the warranty at all? speaking of warranties, anyone have a list of some sort that shows what voids the warranty?

but thanks guys!

It's really dealer-dependent. Some dealers don't allow any bolt-ons whereas mine is fine with everything until aftermarket turbos & clutches.

+1. It just depends. Most of the time a dealer is easier on mods if they do the maintenance on the car but it is just up to the service manager.. kinda sucks. At some dealerships they void your warranty for ANYTHING!!

my 2011 is kinda the same way, you gotta kinda baby it into 3rd, kinda as if you were upshifting without depressing the clutch but to a lesser degree. kinda hard to explain, basically you kinda have to feel out when the synchro's are aligned...

Yup mine was like that, but in time it went away on its own. Once you get to know the car well you'll be able to figure out what rpm to shift at so it doesn't happen.

I found that a full set of underhood shifter bushings really helped with this.

Yeah, I think it's more that you figure out how to drive it rather than it going away, the evo is one of those finiky cars you gotta know how to drive. Anytime I let any of my friends drive I realize I'm "that guy" that gives them a list of what to do and how to do it...
