Concerned about the plastic valve cover.
I'm planning on getting a stock replacement tubular exhaust manifold and I'm concerned about the plastic valve cover on the 2010. At some point I want to get an aluminum one, but if I were to use some high-temp engine paint and some of that gold heat tape, would it limit the danger of the plastic valve cover melting/catching on fire?

Tubular manifolds will melt it if tracked, while stock setups with stock heat sheilds should be fine on the street for obvious reasons. It's when you get the parts glowing hot and the heat sheilds are not there that stuff starts to melt.

Normally I wouldn't agree, because OEM is usually nutso in price. But
is actually really competitive in pricing. PM Russell at mitsubishiparts.net, he usually sells for a good amount under retail.

Yes, if it's a quality ceramic. Just watch it periodically and make sure it's not getting melty looking. You can also cut the hood scoop open a bit further to allow in more airflow.
