idle issues & loss of power

My car having idle issues and is rough. I have an Accessport with the OTS stage 2 tune 93. It will idle at 700 and then drop to low 600's and the idle will tick between those numbers. I have an ETS intake and am using the COBB Sf stage 2 tune. Cobb said it was the closest tune to it because they both reuse the stock MAF housing. And Im getting Black smoke at WOT and what seems to be a loss of power. Changed plugs at 41,000. they were gapped properly at .020. Tune maybe? I unmarried the AP and it changed nothing. I also checked for vacuum leaks and also noticed my Synapse DV was leaking a little air at idle when I had it VTA is this normal? It is now Recirc and I just went VTA to test the DV. Im new to the Evo so go easy. My mods are in my Sig. Thanks

Vacuum leak could cause your issue but I'm going to guess you have cone style air filter. Is your a/c on while you are at idle? If it was on try to shutting the a/c off and see if that will make the difference. But you should really fix the vacuum leak.

First thing's first: boost leak test! This is a simple test and will tell you a lot.

Next: compression test.

Next: leakdown test.

I don't mean to scare you but my X had some similar issues and it turned out to be a bad ring land. Fix it before it gets worse!

Yea they are sending the piece for the dv but I called synapse and they told me the leaking from the dv when I had it setup for VTA to test for leaks at idle is normal because the engine is in vacuum. I do have a cone style with the heat shield but the weather down here in texas has been pretty nice and I havent had the need for ac or heat lately. Thank god! Today the car was actually running pretty good but Im not sure if its smoking blue smoke still at WOT. Ill be needing an oil change pretty soon(2500 mi) maybe related??

No scare at all I know what you mean and have seen on these forums some pretty bad things with lost compression. Not as bad as when I had my Rx-8 but still. This might be a dumb question but what is the leakdown test. Sorry i came from a rotary and havent had a piston engine in a while. i mdefinately going to do a boost leak test as soon as I fix the dv issue. Maybe its because I need a protune too. Thanks

vacuum leak can also cause the exact same issues.

Check the vacuum line between the intake manifold and fuel pressure regulator.
