Very few Built Evo X's have torque issues from what I have seen.

The 2.0L X's don't have the torque that the evo 8/9's did. The X motor reminds me more of my K20 or any Honda motor. Power just keeps climbing and climbing. You need a lot of boost and/or displacement to get the 500 ft/lbs and above on the X to which I would be concerned with torque on a built motor.

I have only seen like a handful of X motors make over 500wtq and they were all racecar types.

I've noticed that with the torque as well. Any thoughts as to why it is the case?

I think its just a factor of the square motor, 86mm bore vs 86mm stroke. That and a great flowing head.

For those happy with more than 410 but less than 450 awhp, is just upgrading the rods an option?

I'm not sure aftermarket rods are fully compatible with stock pistons due to wrist pin designs. I thought about this too but honestly, do it once and do it right. Go back and read buschur's post, he speaks a lot of truth. I had no intention of going larger than a BBX but now that I have a built motor, a year later, I'm eying T3 kits....

Not with the stock turbo. An upgrade to an MHI18k will do 450-475whp though.
