AMS is a for-profit business. Why the hell would they lower the price? If you want one so badly, how about you go work harder to make some more money or cut your expenses somewhere else.

^ I think with companies of this caliber, there is a small premium to pay for their parts. I am not saying that they don't invest great amounts of resources to make quality products. But I believe they have established a reputation of making quality parts through a successful r&d process. I would rather pay a small premium knowing that the part is purpose built and will yield favorable results, then trying to cut corners on price and buying from a company that also cut corners to develop the same product.

With that being said, AMS is not the only good brand out there. And not all expensive products are quality either.

Having a few solid companies keeps the price, quality and customer service all very competitive. Perfect competition keeps everyone honest*

*For the most part.

You tell them AMS. Keep your work as good as ever. Show them who's the real one here. Shame on the copycat.

Found this thread to be quite amusing as I am pretty sure that AMS copied Tomei. At this stage they also charge more than Tomei.

This is actually incorrect as our downpipe was produced and release far before the Tomei downpipe. Also our downpipe was fully designed in house here at AMS.

Tomei's downpipe wasn't even available in the states until November 11th of 2011 if I remember correctly.

I believe Tomei first released the design for the Nissan Silvia back in 2003. If you were the first to release in America great. I wouldn't say I got burned though. Depends how you want to look at it. If you were the first to release an adaption of a design developed before the Evo X existed all good. But to get back on track yes the AMS is definitely better than the god awful e bay imitations. I also will not disagree that the AMS looks to be pretty much faultless with regards to quality. With The way you guys take legal action against each other over there you sure wouldn't want to release anything but the highest quality.

what design from a silvia downpipe translates to the evo downpipe? the bellmouth? the stock evo downpipe is already a bellmouth design...

i originally bought the tomei downpipe caused it looked great in pictures. it is pretty nice but IMO it's got a few things i disliked enough to sell it and bought the ams instead. i think the ams piece is much nicer.
