Evo X no top end

I'll get to the point. Low end seems decent.. right up until about 5k or so. I feel the push from the boost kicking in but right around 5k mark it feels like its dropping off (kind of like if you have a bad clutch) and then all of a sudden the push picks up again but the power curve feels like its flattened out on anything about 5500.

I swapped the headlight and fuel pump realy but the problem remains. I checked for boost leaks as best I could but found none.

One of the peculiar sounds from the engine is kind of like its a low power 4 cyl reving high and chocking for power.

Thoughts on what to look for next, has anyone else had this problem. Car is all stock with the exception of an agency 2.5 charge pipe and stage 3 comp clutch w/ kevlar ceramic disc. It also seems to be inconsistent running a legacy GT I do pretty well. Today running an accord (following, it took forever to make up 4 car lenghts winding it out to 7500).... I know its embarassing but if I didn't want to fix it I wouldn't be posting.

BTW.. new plugs less than 10000 miles ago.

Yep. I thought something was wrong with my car too

Crappy stock tune but the turbo will still fall off but way better than it was

08 stock tunes are pig rich and purposefully conservative.

T\ey are torquey in stock tune but that "fall on it's face" feeling is typical .

Tune tune tune! Even a cobb stage 2 OTS map will do you wonders until you can get a proper e-tune or dyno tune

Agreed, right now I'm just running a Cobb stage 2 tune and the car runs day and night, but still a lot of improvement to be had once I get it done.

I notice the same thing with my '13 gsr.

Donzilla2004, do you have any supporting mods for the Cobb Stage 2 tune?

The 08 tunes are horribly rich from the factory. Like everyone else said.. Get a tune and it will make a night and day difference.

Evos aren't trap monsters in the quarter... Stock for stock not a lot faster trap than a v6 accord. So I can totally see it taking a bit to catch up.
