Competition Clutch stage 2 issues

Put this bad boy in about two weeks ago along with the Map master cylinder (SS lines and all equipment) and the CC flywheel. Adjusted the pedal to about the half way mark and engagement was great, continued use several high way miles and the clutch need to be moved in, so i moved it about a quarter of the way out.... Engagement continued to be in the middle of the pedal for while longer, some more high way miles later and the clutch needed adjusting again, fully adjusted to the floor, engagement didn't move much and stayed closer to the top of the pedal, not what i desired but still holds fully. haven't launched it at all, been driving manuals since i was 16, i'm 29 now, i managed to drive on a crapping out oem clutch for 3 months don't think its my driving habits. But this clutch is obviously continuing to move out on me. It smells every time i turn the engine off and i get out of the car, i'm confident in the install and the break in that was done. I want to know if i have any recourse or anyone has any ideas??? only thing i could think of was taking the master cylinder out and dying the push rod further (meaning the clutch pedal would be extremely short) probably not really a great idea but i'm not sure what else to do. I was expecting this to be a reliable streetable clutch but it appears to be wearing out within the month... please help

Additional Info that might help:

32K on the car
450 miles on the new clutch
stock everything except perrin air filter and rear sway bar
DD the car for last 2 years

my fear is that i got a bad pressure plate (just faulty factory material) donno if this is possible or if i can even contact CC with an hope of getting anywhere with them... wonder if anyone has any experience with them? or a contact? or an approach to use?

Double check your install. It's more likely there was an installation error or user error over it being a bad pressure plate.

Also if you thought something was wrong you shouldn't have kept driving it. If something is up you basically guaranteeing that the clutch assembly is going to damage itself. Pull it out and send it back to Competition for inspection is your only option now.

Just kept my fingers crossed it was part of the break in period, there was a chance in my mind that i was hyperventilating about it and it would stop adjusting and the smell would stop and the pedal would stop moving engagements. I can't say for sure that this isn't normal... wouldn't know what would of been wrong with the install... it grabs fine its just that the pedal engagement point has continually moved out, can't see the install being to blame... maybe explain further.

Who did the installation?

It shouldn't smell that noticeably its not an organic clutch material. Which means you may be burning up the disc which can be a sign of it not fully being engaged.

So your options are

Keep driving it till something fails

Double check you CMC installation.

Pull the thing apart and send it to be inspected.

I did the installation with a tech at mitsu after hours... I trust the work we did, a very experienced mechanic, who drives and works on other evos himself, replaced many a clutch.

i could see this being a CMC issue but don't know what to check for, everything is buttoned up and seems to be working correctly... what do you suggest on this path?

obviously i don't want to be stupid here so driving it till it brakes is a bad choice, pulling it apart without knowing what i'm looking for is also silly so can we be a bit more specific?

I don't want to go back to the mechanic and point the finger, i don't even think it was an install error, mistakes get made of course, but i'd rather have some insight before i take action.

hydraulic system bled correctly?

I have installed about a dozen of these units into evo x's and never had an issue. Installed a hand full into the evo 8/9 without an issue. One case was on a DSM but it was different than your case.

I never broke mine in and its fine today after beating on it.
They do smell a bit during the first couple hundred miles.

I suggest double checking the CMC install, make sure its mounted solid and bled etc. Do a visual check on slave cylinder travel...

Thank you, how do you do the visual check on the slave cylinder?
