This was with the list of mods you posted that needed to be added or modify in order to make the install 100% correctly done.

That this results were after you modify or corrected the issues with the oil lines and J pipe, upper pipe and turbo inlet??

well I left this experiment.
To all of you guys thinking about it, I suggest you guys upgrading to an ETS turbo kit or something on those lines. To much of a headache.

My New setup ( just waiting for my turbo blanket and some relocation of sensitive heat items)

Ah, the old CFT-Sidewinder. That is a cool looking manifold. Nice setup.

So, here are my final thoughts on the Kinugawa 25G turbo:

1). That bearing is absolute and utter garbage. Kinugawa turbos come with an MHI bearing (from a Subaru, I believe), and it is crap.

2). The wheels are mismatched on this turbo. A TD06SL2 cannot adequately keep up with the 25G compressor wheel.

3). The generic 25G compressor housing is the dagger.

I am well over 500 HP, at this point, but that is a completely custom made turbo. The wheels are Kamak...that is about the only thing that my turbo and the Kinugawa have in common. I cut my own compressor housing and am using a re-cast turbine housing with more material around the outlet (so that I needn't clip my turbine wheel or weld my housing).

The turbine housing i found a comoany that sells them and im buying the td06h from them. And a turbo shop here is going to port a compressor housing to 25g specs with 3 inch inlet and use mhi rebuild kit on it with upgraded 360 JB. Compressor wheel will be billet too provided by them.

inferior results?

so because I was dumb over revved my car that means its the turbo's fault?

I simply stated this turbo is not a plug and play. I saw it when it got to the house and I opted to continue for the sake of research.

I don't see anything inferior about the turbo , kamak has been making parts for turbos forever.. Just because the name Kinugawa seems like and offshoot brand doesn't mean it isn't good.

all turbo's at one point or another were no name brands.

anyhow car is up and running again.. put a 1.7 bar spring on it.. and I will have it tunned shortly.

So after the "experiment" and NFS post about the components do you still stand by your claim that these turbo's are not of inferior design and build?

Note: My opinion(s) are just that, opinion(s). There is nothing technically wrong with using an IHI bearing. There is also nothing technically incorrect about using a generic 25G housing. What I did was as opposed to buying an EF4 or FP-Black and may not be relevant to those looking at a budget turbo.

its not , the problem with it is not the turbo.. But the usage of the wrong compressor cover and the junk they give you as far as oil feed lines and return lines.

1) You have to make your own inlet if you want it to fit the stock UICP
2) the oil return line does not work with stock one.

I spend more time getting stuff fabricated , by the time fabrication is done, you have spent easily another 150-200 dollars so a $1000 turbo now just became a 1200.. not that far off from other direct bolton turbos already available.
I made awesome power with it. My nightmare and beef is not with the turbo itself but the shop that did the work on my car that caused all the nightmares i had in the first place ( oil leaks , coolant leaks, etc, which eventually caused a fire)

Your milage may vary in otherwords. If a reputable shop would've worked on it instead , we might've seen different results.
