6776 thoughts

A friend of mine is offering me a Bnib PT6776 super cheap. I'm not sure which one it is I'm in the process of having him find out. I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this turbo for my setup. Here's my current setup.

MAP Rev2 Short Ram Intake
MAP EF4
MAP Upper Intercooler Pipe
ETS 4" Intercooler
Turbosmart Dual Port BOV
MAP Rev3 Intake Manifold
MAP Stage 5 Cylinder Head
GSC S2 Camshafts
MAP Ported Exhaust Manifold
MAP CompGate40 O2 Eliminator Downpipe
Turbosmart CompGate40
MAP Surge Tank Fuel Pump System (Ti Automotive 400lph pump) 255 lph in tank
Boomba Fuel Rail
MAP AFPR Kit with Fuelab Regulator
FIC 2150cc Fuel Injectors
MAP 2.5L Stage 2 Shortblock with Darton Sleeves
Running e85

I like the spool with my current turbo with the big motor since I like to do track days but I also like drag racing. I wasn't sure if putting the 6776 would make my car a turd for track days.

You will need a lot more stuff that just the turbo to run that thing. You'll need the manifold, downpipe etc (as I am guessing you know).

Do you mean 6766? Not 6776?

Either way, if you want a good big turbo from precision, get the 6466.

You will likely need to rework your fuel system as well and get lots of heat protection etc for that power.

I vote stay away.

Old school pt6776 aka 37r or are you meaning 6766 as mentioned above?

I had the 37r/6776 on a 2.3 and 2.0 and honestly it wasn't really that bad. The 2.3L setup was pretty bad *** and you having a 2.5L stroker I'd say what lag... A pt6776 will make 600hp on 93oct and 700+ on e85. I ran that turbo for years and daily drove the car to and from work.

Now noting your current setup of an EF4 I'd max that out and call it a day and save the money unless you have to have over 700hp then a 6466 would be my recommendation and will balance spool and top end well.

Its an old school 6776. Only reason I was considering the 6776 was my buddy was going to give it to me for nothing. I know I'll need a new manifold and dp. I feel the ef4 is pretty much maxed out already. 32 psi on corn a little over 600 hp. It is nice cause its full boost by like 3500 RPMs.

Here is my EF4 maxed vs 6266 (not maxed):

Twinscroll t4 6266 with 1.0A/R. If you want more easy power with minimal extra lag, do this!

Ill say this.....There are guys running 9's on a HTA86. A 67mm turbo is huge and is gonna be laggy as hell. If your building a drag car would be a good choice. Better have some good rods cause your gonna need to rev the P**s out of this turbo to have any kind of powerband.

As a drag car this is a good choice, but I would not want that turbo as a daily driver. Just too much lag for me.
