Aluminum vs. Silicone Radiator Hoses
Aluminum vs. Silicone Radiator Hoses
Yay, this topic again!
The consensus is that Silicone is better than Aluminum because it lets out less heat into your engine bay.
The question is, why is that such a bad thing? Does the coolant get hot enough to start burning things in the engine bay through radiated heat? Is it not a good thing that the hoses would assist in the coolant cooling process?
Just some food for thought. I'm in the market for some hoses so I'm looking to see what's good out there.

Are you serious? Think about it for a second. "The consensus is that Silicone is better than Aluminum because it lets out less heat into your engine bay."
Here is a hint....What does your radiator do?

As long as the extra heat doesn't damage anything in your engine bay, why is radiator alone better than radiator plus the incremental heat radiation from the aluminum pipes?
What you are trying to do is not create heat soak, where other engine components are absorbing hot tempatures in the engine compartment. I.e. Radiator hoses do not give off "heat" in the engine compartment. The cooler in this case is the radiator. Its taking cooler air tempatures from outside and uses that to cool the fluid. What you want is the engine compartment to run as cool as possible, so if you are running the aluminum hoses that give more heat of, then in essance you are raising under hood tempatures.
If you keep the engine compartment overly hot, you can start heat stressing components that will lead to early failures.
