New X Owner, maintenance advice

Hello board,

I made a newb post to introduce myself and one of the moderators suggested that I ask the questions here. I'm a VW/Audi guy at heart, but wanted to step into something different for a change of scene/build. Purchased a 2012 STi and traded it in within 9 months for the Evo. Wow! Completely unbiased opinion, but the Evo outperforms my old STi in every way possible. Love the new car and look forward to meeting everyone and contributing to the community. P/O made some unfavorable mods, but I plan on fixing that soon

Definitely want to get rid of the terrible HKS BOV, recommendations? Was thinking OEM based on searching/reading a lot of threads. Any other areas of special interest? I read about fuel pump relay (purchased already), but am I missing anything else of immediate attention? Car has 54k miles.

Onto the pics

Is it a GSR? or MR sorry the pics wont work for me. But you should prolly change the transfer case fluid and rear diff fluids and tranny fluids just to be on the safe side! Other then that you already looked up the fuel relay already..so just enjoy the car. I like the factory diverter valve with my open cone air filter its pretty loud. I saw no need to upgrade it.

Congrats on the purchase! Like hoobastnk said, would recommend fluid changes as well and you already said fuel relay.. Also would suggest calling a dealer to have them run the vin to see about any open recalls.. I have a 2010 and so far 5 recalls they have. Besides that nothing else I can think of

It's a GSR. Sorry about that. Awesome! Thank you for the recommendations. I set up an appointment to flush all fluids with my local tuner. Didn't think about the open recalls, I will call and do that as well. Thanks again guys! Keep em coming, if you can think of anything else.

The relay suggestion is no joke. The fuel pump relay is to the Evo as the exhaust port is to the death star! As for bov: stock works fantastic to 25psi. Around 25psi it leaks (read it here then verified by myself). If you ever think you may go over 24psi I can recommend the synapse syncronic bov. Works like OEM but is rated to something crazy like 100psi; been very happy with it (recirc). Fluids you have a handle on. Do them all. If it has seen snow/salt I would be aggressive and sand blast all undercarriage rust and then por-15 and then Napa rubber undercoat. Mitsubishi like to rust at the sight of water (+salt). My 2 cents.
