Need your opinions, thinking of changing my clutch set up
Hi guys, so like the title says, I think I need a new clutch set up. I recently bought a 2013 GSR which has clutch master stage 4 FX400 6 puck ceramic. The car is making 400+ whp on dyno.
I think I can get used to it because it's not so stiff on the clutch pedal, the only problem is that it engages pretty fast and I'm having a hard time launching smoothly from first gear and at times, I would stall on inclines.
I'm planning to make it a DD, so called COBB and their advice is replacing my clutch kit with a more street friendly competition clutch stage 2. Anybody with this stage 2 set up, I need your thoughts. Or should I just settle with my current set up and learn to live with it..

I second competition clutch. Right now I cant remeber if I have stage 2 or 3 but yes... However I will say by your description changing your clutch won't fix your issue imo. The experience you have is pretty much what mine feels like too and I think it's the nature of the X somewhat. I have a lightweight flywheel and that contributes to symptoms like your describing. Do you know if yours has a lightweight flywheel? I'd go back to Oem if so, if/when you do a clutch swap.

You'll experience more chatter/harshness with any 4/6 puck clutch. If you want better drivability, you'll want a full-faced clutch paired with the OEM flywheel. An aftermarket flywheel on a single disk clutch is overkill and more of a pain than what you're getting out of it.
Double/triple disk clutches usually come with their own flywheel, which is the only time (imo) an aftermarket flywheel should be used.

I have a Competition Clutch Stage 3 (2600 series) with their lightweight flywheel. The clutch is great, but I would put the OEM flywheel back on anytime for a DD setup. You have to give it slightly more gas than normal and makes it difficult when going up inclines. I highly recommend the Comp clutches though!
